Motivation to Work

Most folks are snowed in today but I didn't give up trying to make it to work on time. I battled my inner demons that was convincing me to call in but I didn't budge. As soon as I clocked in, I noticed my co-worker wasn't there yet. I opened the gate to our office and settled in. Hmmm, one day to myself at the office. I started checking my e-mails, writing my reports and then go over my week's goals. Once I was on a roll, the time started passing by. I felt really good about coming in today. What motivates you to work when nobody's around to supervise? Do you have any inspirations? Experiences? Please feel free to share.

I don't work. But still attending classes is something like it. What motivates me is the fact that I have nothing else to do. Some time back there were some people whose company I found inspiring. But they are gone now, so....

hello! Well when the old is gone, you find the new to keep at it. When it's too much for new then you work on the old until you are completely done with it. Like school for instance. Sometimes the way we do things is naturally motivating us but we fail to see it otherwise, we get bored, but always look for ways to educate yourself as it is a motivating factor as well.

I didn't make it to work today. Two sick children plus a couple of doctor appointments. But what motivates me? I don't know, I just do stuff because it needs to be done...

You're right about that dawn. Sometimes you just have to do it. There's no other way around it. In your case, the children needs you so it just has to be done.

i have always been fairly motivated maybe it is for the money, probably not though, it is more for the sense of accomplishment that i feel when the job is done.

Good for you. If you're doing it for anything else besides motivation, that takes a lot of determination and I think you're already on that track my friend. Thanks for sharing.

I have been retired for several y ears but ours was a business that could not run unless most everyone showed up to work. So at the library I was never all alone, as even if other pages did not show up the rest of the staff would be there too. only thing is if I was the only page and as I only had five hours a day I would not get caught up on my work of shelving media. we all only worked part time, the pages I mean.

Yes, without enough help, the library can become quite a mess doesn't it? I know that when I go there to check out books, I would leave them on the table so that they will be put away however looking around with 8 tables and thinking of how many people come in and out each day, that's a lot of books. The workload in this case is already there. It just needs to be done.

It was like a mini vacation, especially if no customers showed up, I always had catch up work to do and it was so nice not to be inturupted. If It lasted more than one day I didn't like it much, I found I needed to be stimulated by the challlenges which came with other people.

Very true, the lack of sound and the presence of life thereof makes it hard to keep at it day by day. Having a little variety does many wonders.
