Many generation Y hops from one job to another. I too have hopped jobs and at for the last 8 years, I haven't stayed in one company for more than 5 years. I have been looking for things that made me stay long in my 1st job. What are the chances that I will find job contentment in an organization and stay there for good?

Actually, it's depend on one's luck. Like my friend, she was very lucky to found a very good and considerate boss. Even her company provides good salary scale with good benefit to their staffs. Although, sometimes she needs to work overtime for her company but she don't have any complain about it. Because every overtime hours are fully compensated. Besides that, the boss also provide staff mess, which the staffs can save some of their expenses. Because of all these good benefit which she obtained from this company, my friend managed to stayed here for nearly 10 years now. She told me, she planned to worked here until she qualify for retired....

I'm not sure that people stay with organizations their entire lives any longer. The longest period of time that I've been at a job is 11 years. It has some definite benefits as vacation time etc gets better the longer than you stay with the same employer. On the positive side, today it is sometimes easier to work your way up by changing jobs than it is to work your way up in the organization that you work for. A friend of mine worked for a major soft drink manufacturer and he told me that when Human Resources looked at resumes for potential jobs that if you didn't move up in your organization in a five year period and still stayed with the company, they wouldn't consider you because they thought that meant that you weren't career oriented.

I think that's the way I managed my career. But now that I am almost at the peak of my career, I want to stay longer in an organization to see a more tangible output of my effort.

More on own mindset.
People usually job hop/change job,due to pay or not happy with work load, or relation with work mates.
But be it anywhere, the work load and stress is always there, as for pay wise probably one must see whether is worth or not to hop.
Example you may get 300~500 more a month, but work longer hours or more workload.
The end of year bonus may not be better then previous job etc.
