That is correct! I'm sick and tired of driving a car in the snowstorms! The older I get the more worried I am about getting into accidents! The city I live in does a poor job plowing the snow! I feel safer driving on the county roads then in the streets in the city! The city takes to long to get the plows when it snows! I alawys try to drive safely but sometimes even after doing the best accidents happen! I have not had one for along time but with the snow we are getting today and the lack of plowing and slting ,I have almost got into 2 accidents when I was driving! I'm sure I'll be in a accient someday but it wouldn't be my fault! I think I'll retire were is snows little I defintely going to see about an suv when i need another car!I feel safer and hopefully an suv's tires have better traction then with my car! I have had it with the snow!!

I have had trucks all my life. The trucks I have owned were small pick-up trucks. I had an old Dodge D-50 that I drove for several years. I then bought a Chevy S-10 that I drove for almost ten years. Both were 2-wheel drive models, but I have never had to deal with much snow where I live, so they worked out pretty good with me. There have been times, however, that I 4-wheel drive truck would have came in very useful for me, and I will likely consider purchasing one when the time comes that I have to buy another vehicle. A couple of years ago, when I got rid of the S-10 that I had, I bought a 1998 Chevy Blazer. I have the 4-door model, and it offers plenty of seating. It has a Vortec V-6 engine in it, so it has plenty of power, and it offers enough towing capacity to do most of the towing that I need to do. I have a 6x10 utility trailer that I pull regularly, and the Blazer has plenty of power for most of what I haul. The only thing that I don't really like about it is that it has no cargo bed on it at all, just a small cargo area in the back of it, so I have to pull my trailer any time I need to haul most anything at all. The good thing about the small cargo area in the back of it is that I can put my tool boxes and stuff back there, and I don't have to worry about them getting wet if it rains. Having the SUV is also nice when I go on a road trip to see my dad up in Georgia, because I don't have to worry about my suitcases and other things getting we while traveling as well. The cargo rack on the top of the Blazer is also a good place to haul smaller items. I have a small cargo carrier that I can load things in and strap it to the top of the vehicle if I need to, but I rarely need to use it. I hope to be driving the Blazer for at least 3-4 more years, but when the time comes, I will likely be looking into something a little bigger. I will probably be looking for something like a Ford F-150, or a Chevy Silverado. I will be looking for at least an extended cab model (possibly even a crew cab model like I have in the Blazer), and I will probably try to find a 4-wheel drive model as well. The bigger truck will offer even more towing and hauling capacity, which will mean less wear and tear on the truck when I do have to haul things. It will also be nice to have a cargo bed again to haul things in again, although I will likely have to have a toolbox put on it so that I will have a place to store my tools without having to worry about them getting wet. I had a toolbox on my S-10, and it was pretty nice. The decision to get an SUV or a pick-up truck really all depends on the amount of hauling you will do, and the size of the things you will be hauling. I may consider buying a full size SUV instead of a full size truck next time, because I have the trailer I can use to haul things, and I do like the benefits the enclosed cargo area on the SUV provides. I guess I will just have to make that decision based on the circumstances in my life when the time comes.

Actually I never intended to imply one way or the other whether you were a man or a woman. I was just telling you about my experiences with owning each kind of vehicle, and my post and my experiences could apply to men OR women...Maybe you should try not being so offensive and thin-skinned...

First off I get the feeling you think I am a guy that likes to do alot of hauling. You are greatly mistaken! I am a woman and I just want an suv,a small one, so i can drive in the winter becuase I am sick of driving a car! I hate being called a man and next time check a person's profile to see if they are a man or women before ommenting. Less trouble you'll get into then!

hi blue65packer guess the person below you didnt bother to check your profile, I was sure you were not hey old man so I checked,I was right, I had thought you were also a female like me. I live In ca. and ere it seems like the SUVs do rule the road which is funny in some ways as we have no snow at least not in Southern Ca where I am. but if you want snow free life come to Southern California but bring lots of money as the cost of living here is outrageous. I was born and raised in cold South Dakota where snow and lots of it was part of live, do I miss it? no not at all. The only part about SUVs is they are not too great in high winds but other than that, and the fact that they guzzle gas I guess they would be safe enough.

The last time I checked I was a woman and I still am! I hate when people mistake me for a man! It is so insulting! Maybe when I retire I'll retire where there is less snow and the cost of living isn't crazy like California! I know I can get a small suv that is good on gas. I know not all suv's are gas hogs. My dream suv would be a ford Escape Hybrid. I know I won't be able to afford one but I can dream!
