Sounds like everyone in the U.S. is talking about the possibility of banning texting while driving. What do you think? Do you text while driving? Do you think its safe? Have you known anyone who has been affected because of texting and driving occurred?

i know people who have been known to text and drive at the same time, i personally think it is dangerous. Taking your eyes off the road for even a few seconds to read a text could be life threatning, not just for you, but could end another persons life, or seriously injure themselves or someone else. I agree with banning texting and also talking on the phone with driving. Im in ontario and getting caught on your phone while driving is just as bad as being caught drinking and driving. It shouldnt take an accident happening for someone to realise how dangerous it is.

In the Philippines, they even ban you from using your celfone while driving. Texting is even more dangerous. You should have seen the accidents brough about by these. If they will do that in the US - ban texting while driving then good for them! It's dangerous for drivers (and their passengers)because their attention is shifted elsewhere instead on the road where it should always be!

I have texted while driving like 1 or 2, but that was while I was waiting at the red light or stuck in traffic. I haven't gotten to the point where I am actually driving and texting at the same time, I'm scared to get into an accident. But I have heard that they are planning on banning texting while driving, which I think would be a great idea. Because so many people have gotten into accidents because they will take their eyes off of the road for just a minute and then before you know it they are in an accident. So why not do it and ban talking on the phone as well, because that is a great distraction.

Ther might be some typos in this entry, because I do occasionally have to look at the road. Sent from my Blackberry Curve while driving down Highway 6.
Just kidding. Texting while driving is a bigger risk than driving drunk. It should be illegal but that does not mean people will stop doing it. I do not care how skilled and experienced you are at typing a message on your phone, if you do it while driving, you are a hazard. If the true level of danger presented by this practice were acknowledged by our legal system, causing a fatal accident while texting would result in a homicide charge.

Of course it should be banned..
Texting is typing. Image having your laptop next to you whilst driving, and type a word or two every now and then!! When texting, you are not concentrated at driving, but at what you are going to say at your txt message

I can't say I've never done it but I know it is not safe. I believe that the best thing would be for parents to write a contract for themselves and their children where both agree to give up talking or texting while driving. I don't even like to think about how dangerous it is.

I dont know anyone that has been affected. I do text while I drive, but only at a stoplight or a stop sign if no one is behind me. I never text while the car is moving as I dont want to risk hitting anyone. I see the need for the ban but it stinks for the others out there that are like me and text safely.
