H1N1 vaccination: would you give it to your child now?

My husband was given a H1N1 shot today - I know its really late but whatever. he didn't have a choice, he tried getting out of it and was unable to. Last time he got the regular flu shot, he go tthe flu. Since H1N1 is the same, he is likely to have the same reaction. Dilemma: I'm 38 weeks pregnant, my 11 year old son has had reactions to vaccinations in the pats (he has an on going skin issue from them). I haven't had the shot, neither has he. Neither of us have ever had a flu shot, so we dont' know if we would react. Now that my husband is coming home vaccinated and has the possibility of contaminating everyone, should I get myself & my son vaccinated? I'm looking for different opinions on this.

I refuse to get the vaccination. I've heard so many horrible side effects that I'm not willing to get it. Apparently the shot can cause you to get just about as sick as the H1N1 flu can! Headache, fever, nausea, vomiting, sweating ect. To me it's not worth getting the shot. Just my opinion. I've heard all of this from my EMT teacher and she's a licensed paramedic.

That is how I feel, why get the vaccination if you can still get sick? Its like the chicken pox vaccination, kids can get chicken pox from it or not even be vaccinated against the disease. Seems pointless to poison yourself.

I don't think you should get yourself and your son vaccinated. A lot of people think that vaccination will help prevent you from getting the flu. But that's still something to be determined. Your risk of getting it may be lowered, but there's always chance. On the other hand, the side effects of the vaccination are very obvious and proven. One of my superiors was actually down for one week of illness after taking the vaccination.

A lot of people get sick after getting the shot. Of course, you can't prove the shot gave it to you since, the shots are normally given during cold and flu season.

Is this the swine flu vacinnation? I usually never have a flu vaccination, because as a child I wasnt allergic to it. I do usually get my daughter vaccinated, as she is a competitive swimmer. I am going to get my daughter vacinated for swine flu, and I am seriously considering getting mysewlf vacinated as well. You cant be contaminated from the actual vaccination, so if your hubby is vacinated, this puts you at no greater risk.

That is what the Dr told him yesterday, but if you have a reaction to the regular flu shot and the H1N1 is made the same exact way, why would it not make you sick? My husband did get the regular flu mist in the fall and had some minor side effects from that.Made everyone in the house sick too, but I know that does have the live virus.

I'm very anti-vaccine sedel..actually I'm plain anti medication in general...LOL...as some here have pointed out many do wind up coming down with the flu itself after getting the shot, also I especially question pregnant women getting any kind of flu shot..did you know flu shots still contain thermisol which is mercury and I just can't wonder how that would affect an unborn baby. The woman next door to me is a nurse, and she refuses to get the vaccine--so if a nurse refuses kind of tells you something

Thermisol is mercury? I thought they were 2 separate things. My OB offers preservative/Thermisol free, no mercury H1N1. I understood it as mercury was an additive and the Thermisol was a preservative. If you got the single dosage (it not pulled from a vial) you can get Thermisol & mercury free, but the multidosage (ie pulled from a vial) was only available Thermisol free. I'm really on information overload because of all this. Either way I'm not getting it. My hubby looked like poo when he woke up this morning. Ugh guess the military once again has poisoned him.

Hello Sedel, I got the H1N1 vaccination because I watch my grandchildren and the parents asked me to. While I was at the clinic the nurses talked about the media hype causing the hysteria. I was actually told that H1n1 is no more serious than the common flu. I must tell you I had no side effects and when I asked my doctor about it he said it lowers your resistance for a few weeks is all. Please do some research and ask your personal doctor.

I have researched this up and down, my OB is really big into the H1N1 - or he was when it first came out - because very few places had the vaccine at the time. He couldn't sell me on the idea back in October.

H1N1 virus is a latest serious problem for the whole world. It attracts specially small children. According to my opinion every child should take H1N1 vaccination.

No I wouldn't. Neither will I take it myself. I live in Finland, so it's every years thing thatn we get a flu. In winters here is at the best -30 celsius, pretty darn cold. And our goverment has bought the cheapest vaccination so I don't see any reasons to take when you have no guarantee that it will work.
