Have you ever calculated how many miles per gallon of gasoline your car gets? Were you surprised? If it was low, did you change the type of gasoline you were using?
Did it help to improve your mileage? Share your automotive thoughts.

I've been having problems with my fuel tank for a while and I finally got it fixed at huge expense. I was finally able to check my mileage don't know the metric name for it. Anyway, I get 13 klms to the litre...and that's excellent. I have a 4 cylinder fuel injector car.

....Hi MsTickle, Your four cylinder car should serve you well for a long while. Giving you back the investment you made, by the savings in gas per mile, as I am sure you have figured out by now. "o) The gas prices are sort of stabalizing here now, but it more than likely will not last. People who can afford them are buying hybrids which are suppposed to be very fuel efficient. The prices would have to come down, before I could even think about buying a hybrid car. Take care, hope you don't have any more problems with the car. Thanks for stopping by.

In April 2008, I bought a 2000 Honda Civic from a friend of mine. It had 174,565 miles on it. The dealership sticker said 28 City and 35 Highway. So that's about 32 MPG on average split 50-50.
That summer I was commuting mostly to a construction site mostly by highway. Roundtrip, the mileage was about 74 with 3 miles driven in the city. Gas that summer was about $4.00. I kept the highway speeds under 60 mph.
I would calculate about 36-38 mpg on average!
I ran it on 87 regular all the time like the previous owner. I kept the tires a little bit overinflated.

...Hi there newarknation, Welcome to the ranch, it's a great place to hang out.
I'd say and I am no expert, but that is pretty darn good mileage for a car that has almost 175 thousand miles on it. If you keep the oil changed you will probably have it for another 175K. I had a Honda Accord a long time ago, and it gave me good mileage, I don't remember actual MPG. I was on the highway a lot, as I traveled on my job. I bought it new and I loved my green Honda. I sold it eventually, with about 130K miles on it, might still be running. Thank you and take good care.
