So I was just wondering if anyone knew about FAFSA and whether or not it was required outside of applying for need-based financial aid?? Since I don't plan on applying for need-based aid, does this mean I wait until after I decide where I'm going to submit it? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks. :)

I'm interested in this as well. Not quite familiar with the mechanics but would like to know. Thanks for putting this one up.

Yea, I feel like applying for financial aid is even more confusing than applying to the actual school, lol. -.-

It is wise to fill out your FAFSA because the way I understand it, lots of financial aid besides the needs based aid is dependent on you having one in place. You will not even be considered for it otherwise. The other people who posted are correct, it gets more and more confusing every year. Both of my children filled out FAFSA's and my nephews did as well. It is better just to do it and have it done.

I think it is still a good idea to fill out the fafsa so that you would be eligible for all the grants and scholarships you get. I think you get some grants as long as your family income is less than 80,000 dollars. Even some scholarships offered at the college (my college does, I'm not sure if all of them does) needs the applicant to feel out the fafsa. It's free anyways so might as well.
