What is TATA?

I sometimes read that here but I don't know what that could mean? What language is that?

I see it at the end of the post and assume it is a sweet way of saying goodbye for now. I use it when saying goodbye to friends and family in a friendly way. I lenghthen it too and t becomes tataaaaaaaaaaa

Oh I see. I thought it's another word for nanny or daddy, and if that is so its gonna be a hard term to accept. :)

I've always assumed it is English, a synonym for good-bye. The word was used in Winnie the Pooh, a children's book. But now that you've asked, I really don't know the origin. But here's what, TATA in my vernacular means darling young girl.
