I am in singapore and the foreign workers are welcomed to make their contribution to this country. however the singaporeans are not happy with this policy, they feel that the foreign worker deprive their opportunity for job, especially in the economic crisis. So what do you think about this, to appreciate their contribution to our prosperity, or to criticise them for deprive our opportunity for job? is there any same condition in your country?

Hello slbwyc. In our country we have invited a lot of foreign experts in many fields. I think that their coming to work in our country is of great help for the development of the country rather than deprive our opportunities. What's more, we could learn a lot from them in management and such.

That's the primary reason why there is an immigration department and the department of foreign affairs. To make sure that the rights of it's citizens are protected at all times. I am from a country where one of our main exports is manpower. In fact you can probably find a lot of Filipinos in your country working as domestic helpers or in the IT department. But if you look at it on a larger scale, it's us who tend to lose more than a few of your country men who gets displaced because of the few jobs taken by foreigners. It's called the brain drain. We could use those skilled workers in our country but it's unfortunate that we do not have sufficient jobs being offered to them. If there are more good opportunities in every country, no person in his right mind who would go somewhere else to be away with his family just to earn a living.

Hello and Welcome to MyLot. We do have foreign workers come into our country for work.
The difference between the foreigners and us is that they work for peanuts in comparison and are able to survive doing so because often time it is farms that hire them and the housing is included so they do not have to pay rent or a mortgage.
It often puzzles me as to why companies would hire foreigners before hiring locals who are out of work.
When I look at the companies doing this, it appears that they have a lot of work, usually hard labour that needs to be done and so obviously couldn't realistically hire 25 locals at even $15 per hour to do the work or the company would be paying out way to much but to have foreigners in to do the work, for next to nothing, the work gets done and the company can still see a nice profit.
That is my personal opinion from the way I see it here in Canada anyway.
