What will make you loose respect for a person?

It takes only one mistake to damage a reputation that may have taken or may take a life time to build. Usually we lose respect for someone because of our own perception. Maybe we are expecting a lot. To understand what could make you lose respect for a person, you must realise why you respect that person in the first place. There should be some quality, attitude, love, affection or probably just because as children we have been taught to respect our parents, teachers, elders, religions, country, laws, cultural traditions, other peoples feelings and rights, the truth...and in short respect just about everything!! As we get to know a person better, our opinions keep changing and so does our perception. We build respect with certain expectations and if thats not met you tend to lose it. Just about anything like lies, betrayal, behaviour, hypocrisy attitude or something just as petty as a bad dress code...anything could be the cause. What we tend to forget is that after all we are humans and are bound to make mistakes (intentional or unintentional) which we may realise some time or the other. Remember even the worst person in the world may be deserving some level of respect which may be different for everyone. So before looking out for reasons to lose respect for a person...i think it would be a happier world if we learn to find reasons to respect someone. Respect gives us a reason to love. That's just the way I think, but again...you must be having your own opinion.

I lose respect in a person who favors someone that is obviously doing wrong and disregards what should be right. They cannot stand up for themselves. I've encountered some people like that, and they are really disappointing. I also lose respect in a man when he abuses and treats a woman badly.

In my opinion,it's not totally losing respect to someone or other people but,maybe losing trusts. When someone keeps cheating,or failing to fulfill promises makes me lost trust and will make me feel cold with that person. Cheating and failure to fulfill promises only means that,they cannot be trusted. One,twice or three times of cheating and failure to fulfill a promise is enough for me to give someone a chance to prove their personality. But,it doesn't mean that i don't respect them anymore. I will only give space and will not treat them the same closeness before. Maybe the worst thing to loose respect to one person is when he/she could have done all the worst thing on earth. And,i couldn't find any goodness in that person and feels that,that person is really an evil one...then,no way to respect him/her.

I think I would be loose someone's respect... because he will keep bad nature or bad behavior and also how he will talk to me the only he will loose respect from me.
