who started rock n' roll?

Now I expect this to be contentious.
There seems to be the widest range of opinions on the subject of who started the whole rock n'roll genre of music. Let me open a can of worms and ask the question here.

Truly rock and roll originated and evolved in the united states. It is a combination of other genres of music like country music, jazz and blues. It is like a natural phenomenon.

Yes it is a fusion of many types of music but most specifically the ones you have named.

I don't think there's a particular person who started it. Rock and roll music just evolved. There might be people rocking before chuck berry, elvis, or little richard. They just didn't know it because there was no term for that kind of music yet.
