Yesterday, I met someone down the street. He's a total stranger to me. Everyone around the street was busy doing their own business. The stranger was so ragged, distressing to eyes, and some called him crazy. As I looked at him,his eyes were tired and were asking for help. I didn't mind him, I did what others just did, minding my own business.
Later, I heard someone screaming, Aah! someone help the man!. I was so shocked because the guy, the person they called crazy was hit by a truck! I can't believe myself to what i saw. It was horrible.
thoughts came to me, more what if's about what happened and what might not occur when if someone just gave attention to him. But it could not save the man, I rejected him; we rejected him.
Is this what we are ought to be? a heartless, cold-blooded,insensitive human beings? The incident made me realize; Am I worth living here or I'm just a bystander watching what happens around me without doing something? The failure I've made to myself was just the beginning to change something in me. It's not yet over to help someone.

I would say not worth it because I feel that we all need to worry about ourselves and our own lives instead of worrying about others. We need to start doing for ourselves and maby we wouldnt end up in sitiuations that would lead us to be homeless or to be jobless if we put forward the efforts constantly to become a better person or become more successful, to reach a higher point in life. To find inner happyness within ourselves. We need to stop taking on others burdens or feeling guilty for there mistakes, feeling we must take on there troubles as our own and try to fix them instead of fixing ourselves. We cannot help others until we can help ourselves.

OMG! sad story indeed. I can relate to what you just did. Not helping the people in need. But the sad part in the story is that things like that is so common in our place. (I know that because we're from the philippines.) Beggars just asking for some help and sometimes is so annoying. That could be the reason why you didnt help the poor old man. Because you're annoyed. If i were in your place, I might've done what you did too. i just choose those who are worthy to receive.
But after reading your post, i changed my mind. it's really too late change and help those who are needy. Thank you for your post.

I am the type of person that would help anyone out no matter who they are.The way i see life is that one day i may need someone to help me or do something for me and i would like to think that if there was that time that there would be someone out there willing to help me in my time of need.I have helped total strangers when they have tripped as well as fallen when i have been on my own and when i have been with someone as well and if i am late for an appointment then i am late.

this happens always in west countries.
in my religion when we see somebody like that we say in our hearts "praise be to god who protected me and made me better than many of his creators"
and we help him bcoz he is a human and needs our help bcoz anyone might be like him at anytime by god will.

That's terrible that the man was hit by a car. Was he alright?
I try to help other people when I can. If I can give a needy person some food, clothing or a little money to help their situation, I will. It's especially important to help people in our own communities to make them better places for everyone.
