Hi friends
It is not unusual nowadays to know of and see celebrities endorsing politicians in campaign sorties. They do it for some reasons like they believe in the politician's vision or they are being paid to do so. That means they are being paid professionally.
It is said that endorsements from celebrities can make a big difference come election time.
What is your opinion of this?

Hi watarikenji!^^
Yeah, I see a lot of celebrities endorsing politicians on TV. I'm sure they'll be accompanying the politicians too during their campaigns and meeting de avance. I actually snort a lot whenever I see a celebrity on TV talking good about the politician they are endorsing. It always seem like they are only acting like they do in their job. But then, it's really hard to tell if they themselves believe in what they are saying, if they believe in their candidates.
I just think celebrities are not very good tools to use in campaigning election candidates. It's hard to believe them because they are actors. They know how to act in front of the camera. They may seem to believe in their lines, in what the script says, but in the end, it's just a script. We don't even know if what's written there is true or not.

Hi friend
I am pretty sure that most of the things they have to say for the candidates are scripted.
It is like a telenovela also having a scriptwriter, director and the ever reliable...
UTILITY MAN.

For me an endorsement by a celebrity is usually a negative thing for the candidate rather than a positive. Most celebrities have made a big mess of their own lives so why would I think they would be able to judge how good a politician would be to "run" ours. Take Oprah for instance. She endorses an author who turns out to be a plagarist, then endorses another author of a nonfiction book who turns out to be a total liar, she endorses a self help guru who pushes that all you have to do is wish for stuff and he kills six people in a sweat lodge, not to mention that she set a school in africa that hired more than a few child molesters; so why would I trust her endorsement of politician.

sarcasm alert:
Oh yeah, I always vote the way my favorite celebrity tells me to. I buy all the same products. I watch all the same shows.
Good grief, what makes some celebrity more of an expert than my next door neighbor? I don't pay attention to that stuff...

What an alert.
If Pat Robertson endorses someone, I will vote for that someone.
By the way, is he still alive?

I personally don't care for it. Who cares what celebrity likes what politican. I ignore it. I am not going to base my vote on what an actress or actor thinks.
But I am sure there are some people out there who will listen to them.

That's normal, it has been the most powerful tool of aspiring politicians. Masses admire celebrities, and whatever they do, they follow it. Right? Ahahah, so I guess when they see paris hilton endorsing manny pacquiao for president, they will vote for him! ahaha

Well, i think actions should speak louder than words, anyone's word at that. Often misguides the general pblic to beleive that since they are being seen with a great person, the politician in quesition is a great person himself, as may not be the case. So I personally think endorsements should be left out of politics.

I don't understand why anyone would make such an important decision based on who some celebrity endorses. If a person can't make their decision based on the issues, they shouldn't be allowed to vote.

Just take a look at this past "election" and you will see the disastrous and fatal effect of celebrities endorsing politicians. "Celebrities" are just people, and many of them are just plain stupid, but think their fame and money make them special. While they are privileged, that does not qualify them in the wisdom and truth department. Most notably, Oprah Winfrey threw her considerable weight around in order to get BHO into an office for which he is in no way qualified and, as far as I'm concerned, she is guilty of the same treason as the imposter, Pelosi, and the DNC and his criminal, radical friends. Most Hollywood types (not all) are particularly shallow and not great thinkers. They are generally radical and secular and have little regard for the rights of others.
Look how many people and businesses are suffering right now because a person about whom nothing "real" is known is tearing our country apart with intent to destroy us. As he and his horrid wife spend millions on themselves, we are losing homes, jobs, businesses, rights, and freedom. Good job Oprah.
This is an evil man and his only known associates are criminals of every kind. Do you think celebrities have the cranial wattage to understand this - or even care?
Celebrities endorsing politicians - all they have in common is the fact that they are "actors" and very convincing at lying to the foolish who make icons of them.
Their arrogance and audacity rivals only the great deceiver upon whom they shamelessly fawn while he disparages our country and his wife spends millions on her personal assistants, including make-up and hair retinue, unheard of heretofore in the WH, but certainly de rigeur in Hollywood and Oprahland.
How very tragic and disastrous that those "characters" of so little REAL character are accorded power and deference that they so richly do NOT deserve. Not a hero among them.

It really sort of annoys me when celebrities endorse political candidates. After all, these people are only actors, sports figures, etc., and not especially knowledgeable about politics, economics, foreign policy or governance any more than the average person. They are simply popular or admired and they use those qualities to try and influence the public. Unfortunately, a certain segment of followers and non-thinkers will blindly follow them instead of making an informed decision themselves. To a certain extent, every election itself is a popularity contest. A lot of people vote for the candidate they like personally and don't make a decision based on what the candidate actually stands for. It's unfortunate but true. I think that is how Obama got elected and now why his approval rating continues to fall. His policies aren't working and people are starting to realize that they voted for him for all the wrong reasons. We'll see if people are paying closer attention in the next couple of elections and it will be interesting to see how many of the celebs keep endorsing him and the radical left.

Celebrities that are endorsing politicians have no effect on me because I know that they are just being paid for it. However, the media has really influences people so sometimes people tend to believe what they see in the television even though it's not true. It's really sad sometimes because the people tend to be disappointed after the elections because the promises that they saw on television are not coming true when the politician is elected

People who have low social profile easily get influenced with those celebrity endorsement. They are the people who are very fanatic with celebrities specially from showbiz. These people really believe on their idols campaign of political endorsement. Most of these people don't have their proper education and can be easily be misguided.
Sad to say they comprises a huge amount of votes. Most of these people does not look upon the candidates educational background and experiences. They vote for those people who have popular image and was being endorsed by some popular personalities.
Sometime they also vote because of the "utang na loob" or they vote a certain candidate because they received some donations such as groceries rice or an amount of money. A scenario which makes the rich politicians more advantageous considering that they can provide those stuffs to them thus making them being bought buy the politician by the power of money.
This is one the reason why sometimes I thought that we should change our constitution to a parliamentary one, for the reason that the new constitution could lesser this political exploitation.

In terms of politics and voter awareness, we are really way behind.
When can we learn?

That is why Comelec has issued an order that any celebrity that will involve themselves into political campaign of a certain candidates are required to take a leave off their regular shows during the election or they file their resignation even though they are not campaigning their candidates on air while they are hosting their campaign.

does anyone from the presidential candidates who have celebrity endorsers claim that they pay for them? all of them said that those celebrities are of free service and it's coming from their hearts, to endorse and help their candidates. they are just fooling the people. and yes, when they win the seat, they then start to claim the money they spent, from the people's money.

I think it all comes down to name recognition. Myself I vote for the politician I think will serve us best and no celebrity is going to make a difference for me. Certianly not an actor.

I don't doubt for one second that many vote according to what a popular celebrity says. We know from their behavior that children and the youth are influenced by celebrities.

I think the voting public is more intelligent now than before, and we are slowly realizing, that it's not about who endorser the politician, but it's about what he can and cannot do, and what he did or has done for the country.. Celebrities who are paid for endorsing a politician does not really think much of how they can affect the view of the public. I hope they think about it more before they do that.

I think politicians knows very well that it is effective to hire celebrities during campaign season no matter what every wise voters says that they won't vote for them if they hire celebrities.Because majority of voters are poor and can easily swayed by this famous endorsers and that's a fact. Sad but true it is just like selling a products to the people even the product is defective.
