Starting A New Job

I started at a new job last week and I started to really like it until today. It is in a call center but the man that hired me kept plugging in to headset and listening to me and I am the kind of person that can't stand that and it really bothered me to where I could not do my job. Would you want someone sitting behind you listening to you all day? It was so nerve racking and the other girl that started the same day I did he didn't do that to her. What do you think and what would you do?

I'm sorry! It would be aggravating and uncomfortable for me too! I can only imagine!!! I never had that problem at my job.
Maybe he is just making sure you are understanding your job and are doing it correctly. Or maybe he already knows you are and are just really impressed by you! :)
But if you really want him to stop maybe you could ask him about it...don't be confrontational! Be polite and just ask matter-of-factly. Ask him if there is something he wants you to change, maybe there is something you are doing 'wrong' in his eyes. If you can establish WHY he continually 'babysits' you then maybe you can get him off your back!
Good luck!

I finally told him 'you make me nervous and I can't concentrate with someone behind me or beside me like that and I freeze up and get tounge tied when you are listening to me and I know it is your job to listen but I am the kind of person that I can do a much better job if I am not be monitored all day long and I like to learn on my own after to listening to a few of the top producers that's all I needed and then if you go away I gaurantee you I will do a better job and you will see" And he left me alone today and I got on the board!!!! Then he was not sitting with me but helping someone else and he heard me and the look on his dace was like now you get it!! Yea!!!!

That does sound annoying! I wonder if he just chooses people to listen in on at random. If you feel that he has singled you out I think you should question him and ask whether he feels you may have done something wrong. I tend to think it is normal procedure though, in fact I have often heard the recorded warning whenever I phoned a call centre; “Your call may be monitored and recorded for quality assurance…” Try not to worry...I am sure he will move on to someone else soon!

I work in a call center, and I hate it when my supervisor listens to my calls or has a new hire listen to my calls. I shouldn't feel nervous, as I usually don't do anything wrong. But my supervisor has to listen and rate a certain number of calls for each member of the team each week. Maybe your supervisor will be listening to the girl who started at the same time you did. I know it's a pain, but in most call centers, the supervisors have to listen to your calls. Try not to be so nervous and have some confidence in yourself. Hope it goes well.

Congratulations on finding your new job, jahernandezrivas
I personally would not be too fond of the idea of somebody sitting behind me and listening in whilst I worked, so I can understand your discomfort at this

it's called sided to side wire jacking
the main purpose of the action is for quality purposes
depends on what's the intention of the person doing with you, but it's solely for checking on things you need to improve on if there would be any.
it's not easy to do your thing knowing someone is listening and watching your moves, so the secret would be to be yourself, do what you were train to.

This would bother me too! However the boss has to check that you're saying the right things. Don't worry about him listening to you and not the other new girl- he might just randomly listen in every now and then.
You have to be confident, try to block him out, and concentrate on the conversation you're having with the other person. As long as you read your script and speak kindly and stay relaxed, you'll do fine!

I used to do call center and all the calls are recorded and they get deeply scrutinized when it comes time for review. I no longer have to do the call center position, but I hated it because call center work is stressful and it is hard to do everything my company wanted me to do, they really wanted us to be robots.

could i say that the person is "lack of attention"? this is what we call them in our place, "kulang sa pansin".

This is all part of the training process. Once you have been there a while and your boss is satisfied that you are doing the work correctly he will stop listening in. Don't be worried that he was listening to you and not this other girl, take the opportunity to ask him any questions and get tips on the best way to deal with things. Good Luck with your new job.
