Hi, My lotters. I am a chinese living in Malaysia.
According to our traditional calender, an egg can stand during the 1st day of spring where we call it "Li Chun". I have try this at home and it really stand!! Here i posted photo to share with you all. In the photo, you can see the eggs that we make it stand at home! But i wonder why eggs can easily stand only during that day and certain time...Can anyone answer my question? or you have other special experience to share with me? Please feel free to leave your comments:)
Happy my lotting and have a nice day!

I Dont know this upto now.there will be scientific reasons i think, for that one day.
on particular day of chineese called lap chun (feb 4)egg can stand i think. and on the first day of spring or autumn,u can stand a raw egg on its end.
see below information from the link http://nmhong5.blogspot.com/2006/02/how-egg-can-stand.html:
nothing special required to make the eggs stand.just when that time arrive(on that lap chun day, just hold an egg and put it on floor.patiencely make it stand.of course it takes time and will not stand immediately as when u place it on the floor.just that simple all u need is ur patience and ur(ketabajan kecekalan)all sorts of things.
according to chinese newspaper, there are 2 explanations why the eggs can stand.
1.on this date, the gravity force is much more stronger, which can make the eggs stand, provided u can balance the eggs on the floor well.
2.when u make the eggs in the upright position, the egg yolk will fall down, untill it reach a position, when the egg yolk is balanced and at the right position, than it will stand(something like the humpdy dumpdy things)well this one i dun reallt believe it because when i make my second egg stand within seconds,it already can stand.
but below opposite opinion is there in the link http://wiki.answers.com/Q/When_will_an_egg_stand_on_its_end:
the time of year does not affect whether they stand on end.it is the texture of the bumps on the eggshell.some eggs can stand on end,but some never will! the whole "equinox" thing is only an urban legend.
u can also see the below information from the link http://www.komonews.com/weather/faq/4347256.html
The legend appears to stem from a "seasonal gravity." Unlike Dec.21 when the Earth's tilt has us pointed away from the sun,and June21 is when we're tilted the most toward the sun,the equinox dates are when we're exactly in between,& the Earth's tilt is at a 90 degree angle with respect to the sun's light.
Some felt that meant the Earth's tilt is zero then,& so with the Earth pointing straight up,that eggs will stand up and not be pulled over by the tilt.
But it's all wrong. The equinox just means equal daylight on the planet,& gravity and our tilt is always the same.u can stand an egg on any date--so go try it now!

Wow, this one is really scienific enough, man!
Nice to meet you here and I think JoyfulOne and me will learn a lot about the eggs stand theory from your comment. Thanks again for trying hard to explain us the theory and provide scientific statement.
Thanks again and happy mylotting!

That's interesting, I've never heard of such a thing. I don't know why that should happen, but I have a strong hunch that it has to do with the equinox and the moon. My thought is that ocean tides react to the stronger phases of the moon, and eggs, being mostly water based, might have the same kind of reaction. It will be interesting to read this later and see if somebody comes up with a scientific reason and logic for this! Curious to what calendar month, and day, is the first day of spring in Malaysia. (Not sure if over here in the US our 'first day of spring' is the same.) I would love to try this and see:-)

Thanks for your comment, nice to meet you here, JoyfulOne.
Well, For Year 2010, the 1st day of spring is 4 Feb. I think the raw eggs can stand due to gravity...So, what you think is almost same as mine!ahahaha....Anyway, no matter this is logic or not, it still be interesting to try it. I think you may try it at US too! what you need, is just an raw egg and a flat surface.
So,Happy trying to stand an eggs! Have a nice day :)

Thanks Ic for letting me know when Maylasias first day of spring is...I put it on my calendar to give it a try next year:-) Gee, spring comes early where you live. We don't officially have spring here for another month or so. Right now we're having another snow storm so I'm definitely looking forwards to spring. Hmmm, maybe I should try doing the egg trick on OUR first day of spring and see if it works. Since spring comes at different times in the world, it's worth a try. You have a wonderful day too!
