It’s been so long since…I’ve just got used to it

I am finally back here posting a discussion again...Finally! The last time I did so was before Christmas; school holidays began, seven weeks of swimming, roller skating, cookie baking, jewellery making etc. My husband was off work for four of those seven weeks and between him and my daughter there was not enough of me to go around!
Now that the holidays are well and truly over and they have been for at least a couple of weeks I am left with a huge amount of emails to catch up on not to mention a list of chores a mile long. On the chore list is the spare room, it is a mess, there is so much stuff in there I can barely see the floor! I need to get in there and clean it up before it spreads to the rest of the house! I know getting started is the key.
It’s been so long since I’ve seen the spare room floor that I’m beginning to get used to it. I have promised myself to at least get started before the weekend.
What have you been putting off for a long time?

I tend to leave things sometimes until I can't stand it anymore! I only do that with really big jobs that are going to require time and hard work but they do get done eventually! I'm half way through cleaning out the spare room. Thanks for responding pat, I appreciate it!

I have only posted two discussions so far and only started yesterday. The long period of MIA was not intentional as I have been away in my other house disposing the property and meeting the lawyer and the developer. It was hectic two solid months hopping from one office to another to get matters settled. I am so glad it is all over and am back to this place I call my temporary home. Come May I will be busy again moving into my new town house. I was itching to get to mylot but can only be here for one two hours during that period. So now am back to mylotting again.

I know what you mean, while my daughter was on school holidays I only managed a few responses here and there and I too was itching to get back here. Moving into a new place sounds exciting, it's usually a lot of work moving but I am sure you will love it once you're settled! Good to see you back and thanks for stopping by zandi!

I guess to finish decorating my bedroom. I have lived in my apartment complex for about four years, but moved actual apartments within the complex almost a year ago. I totally changed my entire apartment style when I changed. I know what I want to do to the walls in my bedroom (nothing to do with paint, not allowed to do that), I have the stuff, I just need to do it.

Well, it's not exactly a high grade redecorating project. I'm going to describe this to you, but it's going to sound awfully tacky. I've saved some old 12 month wall calendars, and am going to take the picture halves of the calendar, and make them into a collage for my bedroom wall. Cheap to do, but I hope the result is pretty. I might try to frame it, but I don't know...

Redecorating sounds like fun; I wish I could afford to do some around my house! I would look forward to that job, I love changing things around every now and again, it gives me a new lease of life. You should enjoy that, hope it turns out great! thanks for the response AmbiePam!

Only if you OWE the gov't money. We do not. I am only filing for REFUNDS. And even though they say you can only wait 3 yrs to file for a refund, that is false, as they have refunded from many more years back than that. If the gov't owes you, they WILL pay you, once you file the return. It is like money in the bank and that is the original reason I waited a couple of years at first. Because my hubby was intent on spending it frivolously and I wanted to spend it on paying off bills instead.
And how do I know if I haven't sent them in yet? Because I have a farm, and it is always operating at a loss, as even if I make income I can carry forward previous year's losses to offset it so I don't have to pay taxes on it. I can do that 10 yrs back or forward. My hubby, his taxes, are simple, 15 mins each. He is an employee, and we ensure that every employer deducts an extra $50 each week in income taxes to ENSURE he gets a refund. I have roughed his out and I kinda know the ball park figure we should be getting back. It is a few thousand per year minimum, particularly because of the overdeduction request.

Oh dear! That will take some work! I would go and see an accountant in that case. Something are just too hard and time consuming to do them yourself! We always get our returns done by October each year because although they are not complicated ones we would hate to have to do more than one at a time! Anyway good luck with is and thanks for responding AnnieOakley!

I know...So much to do, so little time! That's life I think! Not much we can do until we retire although the household chores are never ending. If I ever win the Lottery I will hire a cleaner and a cook! Thanks for your response sweetie1026 hope you catch up on everything...

I know the feeling. As you know I was very busy over Christmas too!
One thing that we have been putting off for years because of time or money is getting around to putting in a decent veggie garden and some fruit trees. We have also been planning on getting a water tank to water these gardens as well, but kept having things get in the way and then it would get shoved to the back of the mind for a few months.
Well, we have finally ordered the water tank, I am now in the process of site preparation for it and we are putting in a new garden over the next few weeks. We have been learning a lot about organic gardening and permaculture in recent times, so this has made us more determined than ever to start growing our own produce. We have dabbled in it before, but this time we have more knowledge and are serious!
There is a cost of course in initial set up, but we will save money in the long run as we spend quite a bit of money on organic produce each week. Oh, we have some worms coming too! Yippee!

That sounds so productive! I do nothing, and I mean nothing outside except hang the washing out! I am not a gardener I'm afraid and I don't enjoy it although I love a beautiful garden and organic veggies would be fantastic! Hope it all turns out well, it sounds you know what you are doing, as for me, I leave it all to my husband! Thanks for joining my discussion RawBill!

You're welcome Paula.
I do not really know what I am doing either, but if I keep waiting until I do know in theory, then I will never take action, so we are just going to wing it and learn as we go!

Well, there are a lot of things I have been putting off. Right now I would say most of it is because of my Health. And then there is the lack of money at this time to get them all done as well. All I know is that it seems like either because of always having doctors apts, meds to fill, etc. I never seem to have the money nor the Free time to try and catch up on bills and get all the things done like grocery shopping as well.

Life can be like that especially if you have health problems. In your case I would only concern myself with getting better, everything else can wait. When you feel good again you can reorganise your time although it is difficult when you are working. Thanks for responding and take care of yourself.

Hi Paula I know what you are going through lol
When mine where that age it was the same for me, but I was not on the Computer then as I was working as well as keeping house and 2 Children to look after
When they where on Holidays it used to drive me crazy at times lol and when they went back in between working it was catch up time on certain things
Just take it easy there and do not overdo

I adore my daughter and I treasure quality time with her and it's great in between terms when she has two weeks off school;it's a reasonable amount of time to spend together but the end of year ones are usually seven weeks long! That is way too long to have to entertain a child who gets bored easily every day! Oh well, she's back at school, my spare room is almost done and I am here again! Thanks for responding to my discussion gabs, I appreciate it!

That sums it up! Sometimes it's easier to accept that we'll probably never catch up so we won't worry about it anymore! As long as we always have time for the people and pets we love that's all that counts, I think, don't you? I had time with my family and now it's just me, the cats, the dog and the bird! Thanks Elic!

Hi Paula,
So this is the reason you were not active in mylot, not active in the sense you were not active like earlier. I have been getting your replies very late though I should express my gratitude to you to be particular in my topics. Thank you so much dear. I have been around all the time but my activity in mylot depends on my office work, I may post my replies and comments here whenever I get free time. Now the home computer also always (for repair) for one month and there is no chance to peep in here from home too. Hope your family is doing well and daughter too.

I was so behind with my emails! I was responding to what I could and sometimes I was four or five days late, but I figured it was better than not responding at all! Life has a way of taking over at certain time and there is no point fighting it, may as well go with it...I've started tackling the spare room...Ugh! I'll get there...Eventually! Thanks for responding Sreekala!

It is a good idea to do at least a little every day and to make a start. Life is busy for most of us these days and I am sure many can relate to us! I am sure that slowly but surely everything will return to normal, probably just in time for the next school holidays!(LOL) Thanks for responding neelimaravi!

nothing big that i couldn't handle, paula. but sometimes, procrastination gets the better of us and sends us in a state of panic -- not knowing where to start and not starting a task at all! you see, i live by the day and from task to task. when it comes to backlog, in work or in other things, i usually start from the easiest and work my way to hardest... the key is, one step at a time. in no time, all my tasks have all been done... and i am back at finding what i missed doing...

It sounds like you are organised. I am not usually a procrastinator, in fact I tend to be on top of all my chores, I just haven't had time during the holidays and the room got worse and worse until I couldn't stand it any longer! I made a start and it's coming along well so I don't feel so stressed about and of course I'm glad to be back here! Thanks for a great response bystander!

thanks too, paula. i know that you're also one great fella. don't forget that holidays keep us away from our regular chores... but we always come back, then make up and update on our backlogs...

frankly, I'm too busy myself to postpone taking a golden opportunity that can make my self successful only because of an idea about the hard life. when it was all just a suggestion that was born from the fruit of my own thoughts. After I realized, I promised my self that I would take advantage of the opportunity God gave me the best possible.

That is an excellent resolve just4auk! It is a good idea to be mindful of all opportunities that present themselves. I agree that God may just have a hand in whatever we encounter in our lives. It's good you don't put off doing something just because it's hard. Thanks for joining my discussion, I appreciate it!

There's always something that needs doing around the place isn't there? I am not doing too bad around the house now; it's amazing how much extra time I have now that my daughter is at school and my husband is at work! I felt a little overwhelmed when I looked at the spare room but I'm more than halfway there now so all is good, thanks for being kalav!

Hi paula, well it's time to clean and relax. My situation is so different, my apartment gats cleaned more than daily, simply because I need to occupy my time. Well, good luck, my friend, and you will have your house spotless, just in time for Eastes. Mike

True! I am nearly done already because when I'm on my own I fly through my chores; it's great to have no interruptions. I'm also glad to be catching up on MyLot and getting some writing done. As much as I love my family I feel so at peace when I'm by my self! Thanks Mike!

Isn't it great to have your house back to yourself again? I LOVE being at my house alone! No one gets in my way, except sometimes the dogs! Its a great time to do the things you want to do maybe for yourself or for your home. I always enjoy when my husband goes on an overnight hunting trip, I clean from top to bottom!

I know what you mean! My husband goes away on business sometimes and stays away for up to week and, as much as I miss him, I enjoy not having to cook because it's just my daughter and I and we're happy with very simple food. Yes I have my house back, the spare room is almost done and I'm back on MyLot...Life is good! Thanks for the response beesugarpie!
