Hi guys and gals, just three days ago I was robbed at home. The damned thief took my Sony Ericsson w960i my other Nokia phone plus my entire cash.It really hurts remembering that event but for me it hurts more not only because those things were expensive but also because my contacts, appointments, schedules, etc, were in that phone. I also have to mention that the S.I.M. card inserted was with for like 6 years already and I've been keeping it.Sometimes, I stare at empty space just remembering that event, my phones, and everything in there. And sometimes I wish That the thief could have just took the phone and just left my S.I.M. card. Have you ever had the same experience?

I soo feel your pain. I lost my phone a few months ago and someone did find it but they did not have any intention of returning it. I called them and texted them and I even asked that they can keep the phone but just return the sim card. I wanted to ask them to give me the phone for a while because Ill just copy or send to another number all the important as well as personal messages and contacts that I have saved on that phone's memory. There were pictures that I didnt have other copies of in there. But the most devastating thing for me is the loss of the sim card. It was a hand me down from my Mom and it was her very first Sim card. I was only on the 6th Grade when I got that Sim Card and Im now in my 4th year in college. That Sim Card has been a great witness of all the things that went on in my life so it was a great loss sentimentally for me. I really dont care about the phone, I just had it replaced and it was something that could easily be resolved, but the contents of that phone was priceless..

Yeah, it would have been years longer with me if I hadnt lost it with the damned phone. Sooner or later we would just get used to the idea of the lost sim card. We just have to be careful the next time. Take care always.

Nowadays you can make a copy of the SIM Card you lost. But with this you will only get your number back in a new SIM card but not the cell contents. I agree with you the cell contents are priceless and nothing can replace them. I had my personal pictures as well in the cell phone I lost. If it falls in some wrong hands, they might blackmail me with those It is really difficult to overcome such huge loss. I have gone through this myself so I can tell how you must have felt. If you really want your previous number back since it was given by your mother and you were attached to it so much, you can always make a new copy of that card and block the stolen one.

Well, my friend. I'm a member of a poor family. If I wish to owe something costly I've to wait for the money saved to purchase it. At present, I've been using just Nokia 3310 old cell phone. If the content of this phone is lost, I'll be able to take it easily. But if the entire phone is lost, I'll have to worry to get a new one and it will take a long time for me. Have a great day.

I can understand how difficult it can be for you to overcome the loss of a costly phone. You saved all the money you could in order to buy that device and someone thought it was worth stealing and left you broken. This shall never happen with you, especially someone who is taking so much pain to save each and every penny for that only thing.

Hey friend, Thank you very much for sharing my feelings. I believe I'll be able to stay out of danger as long as there are friends like you and my faith on Allah almighty. Have a nice day.

I have a very bad luck with expensive cell phones. I have never had them more than 2 months with me. Something or the other happened with them in all the cases. This happened with me around 4 times. One of them had it's front glass broken when I banged my leg on a table corner and the cell in my pocket got banged as well. No body was available for it and it looked aweful with the glass broken, I had to change it. The next one was motorola which stopped working suddenly wihtout reason. The third one fell into water and the fourth one was stolen. I have lost so many cell phones and I think the content matters more for me. My songs, photos, messages etc everything goes along with that cell. I spent two full weeks brooding over the loss of my last cell as it was only 1 month old. You can also see a discussion on it started by me.

Hello choybel, I am very sorry for what happened to you, thief doesn't leave things behind, they might even used your friends to get money from them using the phone that this thief stole from you. the next time you have a phone make sure you have a back up files on their phone numbers. remind them immediately that your phone was stolen.

choybel, the best thing is to always backup the content in your phone/sim to your computer using Nokia phone software. I am actually using a Motorola phone and use Motorola phone tools to synchronize and backup phone numbers, contacts and calendar regularly.

I feel the same way. The difference is my phone got busted I had repaired at a shop my mistake was leave my memory and sim card their. When there done with it they just told me they misplaced my sim and memory card and they will just replace it.I told them they can't because all of the important things are in there. I must be really stupid though leaving my stuff like that. :(

Losing the phone itsself would hurt more, since I have all of my contacts backed up in my computer. I am reminded twice of an appointment; once via my phone if I am away from the computer, and once by my computer if I am infront of it. Also, my contacts are saved in both places, and I have most numbers memorized anyway, so losing the phone would be much more painful, for me.

It is more hurtful to lose the contents of the phone, like mine the telephone numbers of all my contacts, the birthdays saved on my organizer, the pictures the music and much more the videos. Those contents are really important to me and if I lose it, I will be losing half of my life. There are so many phone units you can buy, but the contents will not be available in any store. How I wish it will not happen to me. I feel sorry for the lost of your phone.

What hurts more is losing the contents of the phone. To have a new phone, you just need a cash, not like the contents you have lost, it cannot be bought. That's why we really need to have a back up of the contents of our phone especially those important ones. What happened to you is really sad. I hope you can recover soon. Happy myLotting!

A phone can be replaced but all the contacts/appointments cannot and without them, I would find myself in a bit of a mess. I would have to build up the contacts all over again. Unfortunately, thieves tend to take the SIM card also, and the problem is they probably throw it away and insert a new one anyway.. _Derek

Hello derek, but we also needed to make back up information of our friends and families numbers so that when it's stolen then we would inform them immetiately.

Both hurts. I am fond of cellphones and take a lot of time and do a lot of searching before buying a new cellphone. So, it will make me sad if I lose the phone. It is also sad to lose the contacts, but I can collect the important contacs later. My cousin lost her phone recently, but luckly she had the number written down in a diary. We should keep a backup.

I was planning to backup the entire content of my phone the weekend before that happened but I only manage to back up the photos. Now I wish I did the complete backup.

For me both. The contents are important as well as the phone especially if it is the first phone you ever bought with your own money. I have been using the same number for the longest time up until my phone got broken. Up until today I still do not have that phone fixed.

Definitely hurts more if its your first phone bought with your own hard earned money. I have a memorable phone which is left unfixed until today, it's a Nokia 9500 communicator. I love that phone and I'm planning to get that phone fixed as soon as I have the time and money.

It is hard to lose our SIM card from our phone because there are so many ways that we feel like it contains our entire lives. I know that when my old phone broke, I did have some numbers that were saved on the phone but not on the SIM card. It about killed me to lose all of those numbers. I've finally been able to get back in touch with some of those people, but I sure did miss being able to call them in the duration of the time that I couldn't get in touch with them.

I've had that happen before, and because of that I'm glad my provider offers a mobile back up option. With this mobile back up option all my photos, contacts, appoitments, are stored on the web in my account. So when my phone was stolen, I was able to recover my contacts because I backed them up online. Though i am sad my sd card got stolen it had some pictures on it. Though I think most of those i managed to save to my laptop.

I've never gotten my phone stolen but I've lost it once & broke it few times. I had the contant of the the phone backed up into the computer so it wasn't too bad but it still hurt. Having to reprogram a phone is always a pain.

well yeah, for me it's more painful losing the contents of the phone, the contacts the messages the pictures etc cause you can't replace it and no one can replace it. cause if you lose your phone you can still buy the same model the same brand but not the same sim and the contents. it happened to me before too so i'm feeling the same way as you.. those thief!!

Im so sorry you had to go through this ordeal Choybel. I nearly lost my cell a while back and it had me think that if I were to lose it all, Id be in trouble. I used to keep all my contacts in a "black book" before but now we can keep it all in our cells. Its not a good idea to drop the book. Im now copying everything in my black book. I know what can happen when you lose it all. Im sorry you didnt have those contacts on paper. Maybe you can start again, but make sure you keep it all in double. They have companies that offer a service to keep your contacts OR to find your phone. Theres a yearly fee but if its important for you, maybe you could subscribe with one of those in the future. Id try to put an add in the newspapers offering a reward if the SIM card is sent back to you. Maybe the thief will see it and return it? Good Luck !!

of course it hurts when you lose both, but when only asked to choose one from the two, losing the stuffs inside the phone is the most difficult to take. The phone unit can only be replaced but the contents, especially if you have something inside important is not. I once lost a phone unit with some important data and i went crazy. So when i got a new phone, i always have to make sure that every data inside my sim and phone is copied.
