My internet connection speed is of 256 kbps and its really slooooooooow----i gotto wait for seven hours to download an 700MB movie---Whilst downloading larger files(1GB or above) its completely outta reach it takes days to be completed.Apart from the downloading speeds i'm happy----when it comes to browsing the net---i can easily access the sites within seconds though. I cant just move onto another service either which provides higher speed upto 2MB---it costs me atleast two times more the amount i'm paying ($20) right now. I think most of the US,UK and other countries have super fast net speeds at affordable prices--i'm not sure about the costs though----they can just download an 2GB movie within three minutes which is really awesome. What is the speed of your internet connection---Is it fast or an average one or an slower one and how much do you pay monthly? Are you happy with the speed of your service providers?

I am not sure what my exact speed is and do not now how to find it out, but downloads are fast and have been told by our computer tech guy that we have the second fastest internet speed that he has seen in our city. We have a 25 GB monthly plan which we are safely within at the moment, but we were pushing that limit every month there for a while! This costs us $90 AUD a month, but the next cheapest plan with our provider is only 12 GB per month and this is not enough for us.

A bit expensive but since you said u got the second fastest intrenet speed in your city, that's acceptable. Anyways, you can check out your speed at speedtest.net. Choose local servers for best results.

It is expensive, but not when you realise that we need this level of service as we run an online business from home and need it to be fast at all times. The business also pays for 80% of our internet and phone bills. I just tested my speed at speedtest.net and it came up with 19.83 mb/s and said that an 800mb movie would take 5 minutes to download. What a great site. Thanks for sharing that. I am bookmarking that and forwarding it to friends!

That really great Rawbill----19.83mbps speed uhhhhh that would be more than enough for people like me---i'm damn crazy about movies and i keep on downloading them from the torrent sites---only thing annoys me is the speed at which my movie gets downloaded---at times it might take upto 10 hours(a 700 mb movie) provided they have enough seeds .hope to have such kinda speed in here

i am not aware of that particular aspect as speed... there are a lot of things to consider in my country, the philippines... like the computer specs -- memory, etc. -- but when i got connected, i just asked what is the best connection available and this was what was given me... frankly, i haven't tried downloading a full movie, even a short avp... but i think i am satisfied with my connection now... i only get irritated when the network bogs down and i have no internet connection...

Hey friend! My internet connection has only 32 KBPS speed and I'm not happy with it. Though there are more speed available from the ISPs, but too expensive for such a poor guy like me. That's why I've to stay satisfied with it. Have a nice day.

My internet connnection speed is 3MB now. It's quite fast and I definitely like it. The price is only about S$20 monthly and it's second cheapest in my country. The slowest one is also 1MB now.

My ISP still provides 256kbps for $20 and the maximum speed being 3Mbps that too for commercial purposes and it costs a lot to have that and they also provide a static IP for those who opt for the maximum.

I just got a wireless internet stick, and it is costing me $25/mo, but if I go above 500MB of usage (in/out) I will be billed more. It is 230kbps, but is way faster than my dialup that was only around 45 kbps. I can't get any other more affordable high speed where I live, as I am out in the country. If I lived in town, I could get much faster DSL for $20/mo.
• Canada

My dialup only cost me $3/mo. The next faster would be satellite for $50/mo, but even that is capped usage. *sigh*

Unfortunately I played some of the games under 'fun stuff' here at mylot, and it used up a week's worth of my usage in a couple of days, so I'll have to use my dialup alot the rest of this month or I will incur extra charges. The dialup is the only unlimited option I have, actually, and for only $3, it is a great value, just much slower, so that is what limits my amounts. That, and it ties up my phone line, which irritates the hubby.

hi Annie, you seem to be paying more and that too for 230kbps---and with tabs on your usage(i really hate these tabs though so i opted for an unlimited package)---living in a village would cost us much lol in termes of money and net speed too.you must be really patient to have managing with such kinda speed.Thank you for responding.great day.

I dont think they can download 2gb in two minutes. what ever i can talk about me. i have a connection of 2mbps. and it is far good for browsing porpose. but for downloading large files this is not enough even for a gb it takes nearly an hour.

I agree with you that some where the data can be downloaded at the speed you are telling. which could take 3 minutes for 2 gb. means its simple if you have a speed of nearly 80mbps. and even this is not a commaon speed. but if you go for a leased line connection you can have it very easily. some providers can give you at a high cost. i think this is not suitable to download those stuffs for which you are going to pay a huge amount for internet.

I'm not sure of the actual numbers in speed but I run off a cable modem and its pretty fast. I have no problems downloading movies. Its not superfast but I dont expect it to be when I'm downloading extra large files. I pay about $30/month for it and Im very satisfied with it.

We have a 10mb connection which sounds ridiculously fast but ,in the UK a lot of the providers use traffic shaping, ours does. That means that although we can potentially download very fast, the ISP will filter the traffic into categories and also there will be certain times when it is faster adn slower. For example, if I am downloading a torrent of Ubuntu which is a DVD and so about 4gb, it will take at least all day because torrent traffic is filtered and set to a limit . If I am watching a film clip, it is much faster. Any download managers that use multi file downloads(all of them) will also be filtered and slowed. At night the filtering is less strict because less people are online . Some ISPs are offering upto 20mb here but it is more expensive and they still use traffic filtering.

Maybe you could try using VPN to reduce the traffic shaping. There are free version around.

Im pissed about my internet connection. They say it is 3Mbps but when I started surfing and testing my internet connection, the test says that 600Kbps only.. Im so angry that I almost have to disconnect it and find other internet providers. Until I found the best internet provider, the price is so affordable and the speed is more that 3Mbps

I was realatively happy with the "extra light" cable internet connection that I had (extra light because I didn't feel like paying for the expensive one), but my technology-geek husband managed to score a wireless coneection through the phone company. That was really cool. I don't know what the bandwidth is, but it's 100 times faster than it was before with the cable. I love it!

My upload speed is 256KB and download speed is 1MB. It costs me about USD17 every month. The speed is OK but somewhat I think the internet fee is expensive. I don't want to pay extra to upgrade a faster speed. Actually I hope the internet fee can drop down one day. I love China

Supposedly I have high speed connection at 3mbpm, that costs me $30 a month but I do a lot of downloading so with that speed I'm able to download a 700M movie in about 2 1/2 hours. Sometimes depending on the site, downloads are faster, other times, normal rates are always fine. My younger brother games a lot so when he's on the game server, he take up bandwidth and that slows down other users who may be watching movies online.

I dont think it woul take that longer thuhuong---3mbps isn't bad speed really you can download a 700 movie within an hour---even in 45 minutes provided it has enough of seeds and peers to pull in the data faster it depends on the sites we download from though.I never tried to watch movies online ----it would take years for me to buffer and its quiet annoying at times.nice day.

We pay $35 a month for our internet access. It is at a speed of 10 megs per second and I am thrilled with it. In fact, there are times that I think that we have more speed than we need coming into our house and I've considered backing it down some to save us a little bit of money. Our ISP also offers a 3 meg per second option and it only costs $20 per month. I don't think it would be an issue for us because I am the downloader in or family and I am not really a really heavy downloader.

10mbps for $35 is economical compared to the speeds our ISP's offer in here---i wish i had my internet speed in mbps too but it would cost me lots of money and i fear there wouldnt be anything to compare to my online earnings then lol.despite of slower speed i keep on downloading some movie each day.

As of right now, the speed of my computer is 10.0Mbps. I think that's a lot faster and it only costs me 999.00 Philippine Pesos. That would be atleast 20$ when converted. i think that's a lot cheaper when it's converted to american dollar.
