Decisions, decisions, decisions. When you have the choice of cheap fast food (which is terrible for you), or healthy food that is high in price, what do you go for? These are the kinds of decisions and choices that all of us make on a daily basis. I have a family that includes 4 children, which is why my wife and I have decided to take the healthier route. We discovered that by visiting the Spanish stores such as Fiesta or Jerry's first, we are drastically cutting down on the cost of our grocery bill all together. Has anyone else found this method to be useful, and what are some other things that you all do to save money on food?

Ethnic stores of all kinds are usually cheaper - even in the grocery store. Where I buy groceries, I can pay $1.99 for a package of rice, or go to the Mexican section and buy it for $1.29. Different brand; same product.
Other ways to save are going to the source when you can and bypassing the middleman. Buy in bulk from farmers, go to farmer's markets if you can. Grow as much of your own food as possible. Even if you live in an apartment, you can grow a few things on the windowsill.

I find it too be useful on some products - but to save the most money I am a proud coupon clipper! I can often get the national brands cheaper than the store/foreign brand... Just a thought...
