Cary wanted to bring chocolate valentines to school this year. So I said, tongue in cheek, "Cary, chocolate is bad for you. How about broccoli?" "No, I hate broccoli." "Well, OK, you can bring chocolate, but are the other kids going to get mad at you if you don't bring broccoli?" "NO!" Naomi rolls her eyes. "Mom, you're so weird." Well darn it, if they had let me send broccoli, I could have kept all the chocolate. Evil plot revealed...
Are you going to have broccoli Valentine's day? I hope not...

My little one has already put in her request for chocolate ... more specifically chocolate cake ... and she is not even three years old yet! She sure knows her chocolate, though.

Maybe orange cauliflower, if it lasts that long. (It's already starting to look iffy...)

Hi dawn,
I love broccoli and have great recipe´s for them. But I´m afraid it WILL NOT take the place of chocolates, specially for children.
You behaved like a bawdy witch with your poor apprentice!
But aren´t you glad that now chocolate is actually good for your health? I never listen to what doctors say about food: I know my body knows better and the only thing I have to watch out are the quantities. Butter and eggs have been banned. Now butter is prefered to marguerine and eggs do wonders with the good cholesterol levels.
I suggest you find a secret depression and treat it with chocolates. No need to go to a shrink and have him give you antidepressants. Just watch out fot the quantity!
Hug!

Thanks for the new interest: laughing! I did not have it although I do know that laughing helps lower high blood pressure and makes us have nice wrinkles intead of the ugly ones.

Hi Dawn,
Nice new image! I like it. Well, my kids just had their valentines program yesterday. it was a triple celebration. Teachers' Day, Chinese New Year and Valentines Day. It was fun. But my kids brought donuts for the celebration.
I can't imagine them bringing broccoli in school. You know what Dawn? brocolli is very expensive here in our country and we seldom have it for meals. i love brocolli and i used to buy it during pay days.
happy hearts day to you and to your lovely kids. hugs to them!

Hi dawnald,
Lol! they are too clever then you think, I've tried that with hubby telling him chocolate was bad for him and that he will put on weight, but it didn't work as he is a keen cyclist and needs sugar, mind you I am good as I don't touch any of the chocolate that is in the fridge and I think to myself, its not mine.

My daughter's teacher said not to bring chocolate to class for the kids for Valentine's Day - too much sugar and blah blah blah. So what does everyone bring? The hard candies! She brought home a bag full of sugar which she's not going to let go of . . . it's Halloween all over again - ahhhhh!!
Broccoli on Valentine's Day? Hardy har har. I did convince her that she may have one of her Valentine's lollipop if she eats all of her spaghetti for lunch (my sauce with tons of veggies). No broccoli though! Maybe save that green for next month - St. Patrick's day - hee hee.

We did get chocolates, and it occurred to me later that some of the kids might have peanut allergies (it's not pure chocolate, it's filled). Maybe I'll send broccoli after all...

Very cunning plan there dawnald. Too bad the kid never fell for it, otherwise you would have a nice little stack of chocolates all to yourself to munch through and enjoy

hi dawnald oh your kids are on to you and you love of
chocolate too. I can see the broccoli bit did not help
a bit. well I went shopping yesterday, got two bliss
bars and on unknown chocolate bar, shame on me I ate
them both yesterday Now I have no chocolate at all
today. wah sob. oh well guess there's always broccoli
as a last resort.

Nothing wrong with broccoli, but I bet they cook it to mush where you are...
Here's to many more years of enjoying chocolate for you!

No, I am not having any kind of Valentine's Day and if I were then it would not be a BROCCOLI one. I adore chocolate. Simply love it. I love it all and especially chocolate with coffee creame in the centre. I have guests leaving today and some coming in later today and I have to make the Valentine's Night special for them so this will keep me busy and out of mischief.

i would say, having a healthy valentine is very vita;i mean keeping it real,by things the right way.in essence,we must avoid illicit or immoral act .valentine, as the name implies is a time
of love, not only to your love ones, but, to everyone around you.
so lets share love
