Hi everyone, this is an early problem that I will be posting and I urgently need help and some good advice about my work. For those of you who missed my discussion about me getting hired on this job on a regular basis here is the link and I appreciate everyone’s concern about my health but I felt that I’d like to give this opportunity a chance. But now I am again facing a bit of a problem. http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2233591.aspx The problem is about the payment. They payment is on a monthly basis and every end of the month transcribers will provide them their work logs and that includes file name, date and duration to determine how much do they owe each of their workers. There will be a 7-day waiting period cause the admin will review the work log and sent back to the transcriber for the final computation then you will receive your pay. Now I already did that last February 1 but up to know I have not received back my work log and my pay. I kept asking my contact and he just says that it will be sent tonight, tomorrow and so on and so forth with so many reasons that they are still reviewing it, they got stuck with so many things, etc. etc. I have gotten tired of follow-ups and it's getting awkward for me to be always asking. But I need to know whether the job is for real and I will be compensated for my hard work. So I thought, I’d stop asking and maybe stop working for a while until I receive my pay for last month and so I did not work for Wednesday and Thursday nights till dawn. But at 4am this Friday dawn, my boss sent me an instant message to my mobile asking if I will be available for work. I don’t know what to answer him. I wanted to tell him the truth that I thought of not working for a while until I receive my payment but I’m not sure if I’m in the position to tell him that or should I say that in the first place plus I wanted to be professional with my work and a professional approach. I am fearing that again, tonight he might be sending a message asking me if I can work and I don’t want to be feeling as if I’m trying to hide from him. What should I do? Please, please, please help me…God knows how much I love this job but I can’t just work and work without having an assurance that I will be paid.

It is people like you, that are too soft, that get taken advantage of the most. They promise payment, and do not deliver, yet they expect you to continue producing for them, without payment as promised. It is very simple to me. You simply tell them you will do no more work until they pay you up to date, as promised. Otherwise, they will continue to take advantage of you and you will very likely be working for free.

It just burns my butt to see someone as hard working as you are get burned by people like you are, because you are desperate for the work. I wouldn't wait for months. I would look for something else that actually pays me. But that's just me.

Yeah, I think I am too soft on this one. I guess it's because I'm afraid to lose the job if the result of my continued asking for payment turns out bad. That is what's stopping me really. It is so hard to find a regular transcription work nowadays. So, I don't really know what I should do now. Maybe I can wait for my pay and continue but just don't know when I will be compensated. It might take months...

I don't know much about work from home offers outside of the USA. But, I have tried a lot of different things here in the US. I agree with you. If they said they'd pay within 7 days from receiving your work log, and it's been 11 days, then I'd do exactly that. Let your superviser know that you don't feel comfortable working for free, and until you get paid you'll be taking a break. Let them know that it's not because you don't want to work, but because you don't want to work for free! I have gone through the exact situation with a company here, and luckily the pay did go through a few days late, but I refused to work until I was paid again. I don't think it's right to contribute your time to something if you don't know if it's legitimate or not. Is there any way you can find out from someone else that works there, whethere or not they actually pay? Or if this is normal for them to be late with payments? Anyway, I wish you the best of luck! And hopefully you didn't work the last month for free!

Hi delmeg, well there is one guy who have been hired from the same outsourcing site that I was I hired too. I know cause we have a sharing folder where 10 of us, transcribers gets the files assigned to us to transcribe. I saw the name and checked it and yes we got hired from the same site. I've already thought of asking but I'm afraid I might get myself into trouble cause he might tell my contact about me trying to see if they are legit or not. Besides, I have not seen the guy contributing to the work lately. I thought of using another name or email address just to ask him if he has gotten paid already.

hello iskayz, Can you PM me the name of the company because i would surely like to avoid it in the future. this is the second time that i have read similar kind of problem. it seems that it's not as exciting to work in a outsourcing company now a days. If he's experiencing the same problem, i think he had decided to quit the job and move on. you should tell him that your problems should not be notified to the contact or that contact might be the one doing something else.

I would send him a response saying..yes..I am available for future work providing that my past wages are up to date. If they aren't going to pay you..it's better to find out now than later. Your work is valuable and maybe that will put you in the drivers seat. Don't be afraid to ask for compensation that is owed to you. It is not your shortcoming that you have requested payment. You were promised payment and it has not been received. I if the job isn't real..find out now...that way you can focus on one that is if this one isn't. Take care and good luck..remember..they would expect you to keep promises you made..why shouldn't they?

You know, I know it is my right to ask for my payment but I don't know how start it. I don't know how to tell my contact and I don't want to have a bad result. And because of my being eager to receive my payment they might take me out of the group. I like the job... I'm confused on what to do.

Hello iskayz, Have you double check this company with DTI/BIR or any government agencies concerning the legality of this company? you should complain and tell that boos of yours straight: I won't go back unless i get paid FIRST you are working for this whoever and then you don't get paid on time? i have heard similar thing from another mylotter, she not paid for more than a month, which is insane. report this company to the govt. agencies like department of labor, this isn't fair at all. your problem has been more than a month i suggest you file a complain, before they do this to some one else.

i think you should tell your n=boss directly what you want rather than staying ina adouble minded situation..tell him that either you give me my wages or i will not work for you...if you are sinsere in work the company will also want you to styay there and they will pay you

Greetings! I think you just have to be outright frank with your boss, and inform him of the problem, you do not have to complain and thus sound unprofessional. You just have to tell him about your not getting paid and perhaps ask him for advice on what to do because you've informed your contact about this but who has not lived up to his word. There is no way of knowing that he is aware of your status or not. There is nothing unprofessional about telling him about the problem, which is a valid issue to bring up with your boss, because you are entitled to a compensation for the job done. Go for it and tell him nicely in a professional manner that's all.

Hi mickitiro, I'll try my best on thinking of how I am going to tell my boss about my concerns. I just hope that he won't misinterpret my action and that he'd be understanding enough and not permanently dismiss me from the group. I appreciate your advice and really this scares me and with prayers I hope that everything will turn out fine.

i think it is important to do some job one is interest in, but the more realistic things is that everyone expect to gain something from his work, to buy bread for the breakfast. my advice is that you send an warning letter to your boss and say that your hard work should be paid. if he insist to do so, then it is better for you to make some change. fire your boss and get another job
