How old do you have to be to get married?

I was 17 when i got married.. and you are right the legal age is different in different states, and in different parts of the world.

around where i live, 21 is the legal age for guys and 18 for girls.

I don't really know. I think my state says 18 unless parents consent. Personally, I think it depends on the person. Some people mature faster and some slower. That means people will be prepared and ready for that kind of commitment at different ages. I am of the opinion that their is no specific age, but a level of maturity and self-reliance that should be met before marriage occurs. Just my humble opinion. actually this may depends on several factors some who get marry at very early age as they attain the eligibility to do but some who have any achivements with them just postponed the marriage and work hard to attain their target so it is depend upon the persons mentality and also their family surrounding if u want to do marry at early age you can do in my area very early even school going students got married this time.

when you're in legal age you can already get married according to the law.And be sure you are reponsible enough to handle a family.

Certain laws impose minimum age for marriage. However, I believe age should not be the basis of getting married. I believe it's the emotional and mental maturity of the persons getting married that should be the basis. Getting married is like a serious business that you really should be very careful in picking your partner.
