Any one here can explain the history of Valentines Day

I am from India and here Valentines day is not celebrates as in western countries.I only know that it is celebrated as lovers day.Is there any history behind it.

Yes your right friend that Valentine Day is lover day. But it also for your family if you think then you can celebrate with your family.

As far as Valentine day is concerned, I don't know much about it. As it has been celebrated in India from past 10-12 years. Before that this day was there but it was not celebrated like this. The Valentine Day has a lot to do with St. Valentine if we turn the page of history. But what are the rituals, I don't know much about that.
