Has anyone read Voltaire's Candide? i am going through it... a lovely piece of writing which often reminds me of the adventures of robinson crusoe. Moreover, Voltaire's text was also the first hint of early traits of colonialism. I don't know whether u will agree with me on this point

The day Candide kissed Cuneguonde, everything faded around him : I don't remember anything like that between Robinson and his man Friday :)
Candide is a masterpiece of irony and mockery by the most impertinent and disrecpectful French author of the 18th c. Sure, Voltaire denounced in Candide, among other things, the savagery of the European colonialism of its time.
If you like Candide, which is a "philosophical tale", and have a lot of time, read the Philosophical Dictionary, my favourite Voltaire's masterpiece.
