many are shocked of the news about the comelec law advising the artist and tv personalites to resign or leave from their shows on tv once they become one of the campaigners of any candidate. almost all of the candidates especially the artist reacted the mandated law because they are claiming for their rights as a free and democratic country. are you in favor of the law to let them leave or resign from their shows on tv?

Yeah I guess that is restrictive of their right to free speech. What I think they should do is to regulate them from endorsing during the course of their regular job. Like for example if he is a newscaster then he should not use their airtime as part to campaign their chosen candidates.

yes i agree with you, they should not ban them or restrict them from their shows instead they should ban them to use their respective shows or airtime to campaign for their candidates which is very unfair. i hope the comelec will study on that and revised their laws to a more descriptive and must be fair to every citizen.

I think they have softened their stance on this issue. They are now allowed provided they won't use them to use their airtime privileges to campaign for their chosen candidates. They can show up in the campaign sorties and do as he/she pleases but must refrain using his/her airtime.

This is a welcome development but the timing is suspect. Is it because Noynoy is leading the surveys with his truckloads of TV personalities? For the longest time, celebrity endorsement had been a part of the our elections. Comelec should have realized this a very long time ago. But why prohibit celebrity endorsement only now? Can Comelec also come up with a guideline for administration candidates not to use government funds for the elections as well? i think this is what they should give priority since it concerns public funds. On the other hand, opposition candidates use their own money to pay for their endorsers. But then again, why should we keep celebrities from having a job just because of endorsing a politician?

yes why is it that the government is very concern about the celebrities to resign from work because of endorsing a candidate? are they afraid of the facts. lol so obvious is it not? i hope they will also stop from using the fund of the government for campaigning their candidates.

as much as it pains me that I'd still see Kris aquino on tv, I'd have to disagree with comelec. They are picking on artists and be serious about implementing laws and yet they cringe at the thought of challenging a very questionable re-election for the current president and also the ousted former president. They even have the gal to question gay rights.
I mean if they're really serious about implementing laws then they should be serious about all it's aspects.
Besides wouldn't we be all sad if we are deprived of Kris Aquino's usual tact in her tv shows? You can forget about giving fair wages, you can forget about giving us jobs, but please don't deny us of our Kris!
