Hi, shan0822. Yes, I have been homesick before. I have been homesick when I was into my marriage to my husband. It was very tiresome for me when I would got bored and I missed my family. I would miss all of the times that me and my cousins would get together and laugh. It would be so much of fun. I enjoyed all of those times with them. Once, I got married, I was no longer around them as much. I stayed with my mother-in-law and it was no fun at all. But, I do often call to talk to my cousin. I try to relive the lost time that we used to have together. And so far, it has been great.

First of all Hello Shan! are you a chinese, happy chinese New Year to you!
Well when I was in college and we were doing our thesis, in order for that to finish we need to sacrifice and live in one shelter so that everynight we can work for it. That was the time I feel homesick. First of all, i was longing for foods that I eat at home, the dishes that my father cooked for me. BEcause we were living in a dorm we always eat canned foods, foods with preservatives. Second, I don't like the feeling of stress. I need my pets to relieve it, but sadly there are no pets in the dorm. I missed my younger brother too that time, I missed his voice and his juvenile act. I felt I was in a totally different place and I don't like that. Because of that, i talked to my groupmates if I can go home even late at night because I was homesick and I need my family because they are my strength. Good thing they allow me. I do my fair share of researching at home for our thesis though. I do it just not to let me feel that homesick thing because it is so hard to be separate with your family.

I have before. When I first started studying in Uni, I moved away from my family. This was the first time I was on my own in my life. At first it was great. Then I felt homesick for a while. Missed my mom's cooking, my old bed, and everything like that. Eventually it faded. Homesickness is just part of the process of being in a new environment. It will come, and you will be sad, but just know it is normal, and you can get through it! Good luck, and Xin Nian Kuai Le(As they say in Chinese)!

i bet few others would have felt homesick as much as i did! i've spent more than half of my life so far away from home...in boarding schools and hostels. every time i left home after vacations i used to feel homesick so bad that i sometimes used to feel it's better to die! it was a bit better when i grew up but none-the-less i still used to feel homesick real bad! i just couldn't get away with it despite being away from home for so long.

I tried that before. I was so excited to
go out and be independent. When I got the
chance I grabbed that opportunity. I was really
happy. Go out to parties, go out of town, and have
fun. I thought I couldn't ask for more..
After a few months i realized that it's not fun
anymore. You need a lot of money to do this things.
One day I went home to our place and then i just realize
That I can't live without my parents. Here I am,
home sweet home..:)

Hello Shan,
Im so sorry you miss your home and all the Holidays there. I can only hope you managed to make good friends in America so you're not all alone, especially on holidays.
I went through the same thing when I was in 4th grade. I wanted to go to boarding school and my parents thought it might be a good idea. So off I went. I cried the whole week. We were allowed to go out only once a month. By the first Wednesday, one of the nuns called my mother to let her know that I wasnt sleeping, wasnt eating and I was crying all the time. Later, my mom told me how stressful it had been for her to know this.
I was then allowed to go home every weekend and I never went to boarding school again, I stayed home for the rest of my schooling years.
Im thinking you might be able to keep in touch with your family via the internet. Your studies will be over soon and then you'll be able to go home again :)

No actually I have never been homesick because back where I lived it was never great for me. I do miss my home a bit, but now I am used to the house that I live in even though it is more lonely because where I use to live my friends would visit me unexpectately still it was nice.

I have recently been home sick alot.i miss my friends and the good times we had.The way i get over the home sickness is to talk to friends and family back home. Try exploring the new places and try to find new stuff to do.Home sickness usually wears down but not completely.so it takes some time.since i have been moving around my whole life because of my dads job.I have learnt one thing enjoy where you are and be thankful you got to experience a new place.
