Was the wait worth it?
Here I am after watching the first episode of Survivor Heroes Verses Villains and I ask the question “Was it worth the wait?” The answer is “A RESOUNDING YES!!!!!!”
Every year I think, “Can this show get any better?” and ever year it proves that yes it can and does. All I have to say is “WOW!”
Favorite Heroes
I will have to say that my favorite Hero is Rupert. Basically I do not believe he has the mental fortitude to win the game strategically but he is suck a wonderfully colorful character that you just have to love watching him play the game like a kid in the candy store but powerful enough to be compared to a Bull in a china shop. :) Another of my favorite heroes would have to Tom. He is someone who could go all the way and may very well do that. JT comes close behind. But the one I am looking to hopefully pull out an upset would be the behemoth James. If that man does not cause you to shake in your boots and want to give him a big bear hug at the same time who will?
Favorite Villains
By far my favorite is Boston Rob, but from the looks of the previews things are not looking good early. Coming in ever so close is our good friend Russell. He will not play his hand too early and I do not expect that he will be high on the radar, basically because he does not put himself off as a leader. So the question is this…How do you trust an entire team of snakes? You can’t. Every one of them will do whatever it takes to get to the end. But only one will survive.
No break down
I will not spend much time breaking down last night’s show. It speaks for itself. If you are responding to this thread then you probably watched the show. If not go to CBS.com and you can watch it. Here, however, are some highlights. Two big injuries and some dirty playing by the villains in the first challenge. WOW! But the heroes win. The heroes definitely are the stronger group BUT the villains are the smart ones. They are known for their strategy. This year will have some physical times but I think the victors will be the brains who can figure tough puzzles.
Final Four
One thing that I am renown for is choosing my final 4 picks every week starting with week one.
I believe that the villains will have the advantage right off and pending any major injuries will make it with 7-8 people coming into the merge where as the Heroes will loose all but 4-5 people. The villains will then make sneaky alliance with the remaining Heroes to get to the end only to cut their throats. I see the final four being 3 Villains and a Hero. My final four picks are…In no particular order
Russell
Coach
Tom
Danielle
Can’t wait to hear from all of you!

I was impressed that Rob was able to start a fire without a flint. And I'm afraid Rupert isn't going to last, especially with that toe. And Sugar gone, no loss.
My favorite "hero" is Cirie and my favorite villian is Russell. I just love the things that Cirie has to say about everything. But I wonder if Russell isn't going to have the biggest target on his back of everybody.

Actually Russell may be able to make it far because noone know him and this taped before the last season aired so they do not know what he is capable of.
Rob is the man. I have seen him on all the Survivors and Amazing Race, Geesh I even watched their wedding. LOL
I love Rupert but he just does not have what it takes to get to the end. We will see. Good to hear from you.

I watched but was so bored. I am just tired of seeing the same people! Several of them.. this is their third time on the show!
Their original season, then on All-Stars and now Oon V vs. H. The rest, this is their second time. And a few of them have already won the million, yet here they are getting another chance. And I'd bet, any that have won once it gets to individuals will get voted off by those that haven't just so they get a chance. And then when it said "2 hour premier" I thought, "oh, no! I have to sit through another hour?" And then just as the Heros are going to Tribal Council.. I fell asleep!
I was not impressed with this episode at all.. figured Sugar would be the one to go. She doesn't carry much of any importance to a tribe. And then they all know how each other plays as they have watched the previous seasons so there is no surprises to anyone, including us viewers. We all know how each of them are, so where is the intrigue! And none of them other than Russell and Coach and JT (who already won once) even seem to have the gumption to even really want to play the game!
And they didn't really show anything...nothing how did they get food, water, a few seconds of building a shelter, but nothing else. Boring it was, guess we'll have to see if boring it stays!
I wll probably keep watching, snoozing throughout!

Too bad this one is not gonna be fun for you. I however love to see people that I loved and hated and see who can handle themselves against each other. You have to change your strategy if you plan to stay.

I am watching it again now because I had taped it for my husband because he was working nights.
I have to admit, Rob is different this year. Perhaps marriage changed him. But it doesn't look good for him next week. Whatever happens to him, I hope he recovers.
I guess my favourite heroes are JT, Rupert and Tom.... oh, and Colby. Well, I pretty much like all the heroes.
I don't have favourite villains because, well, their villains. I guess Parvati is one that I like and I may actually take a liking to Rob this season. Jerry is pretty cool. The villains are villains for a reason. I didn't like them the first (and/or second) time around, I don't like them now.

I am sure that this game will change my views on some and remain the same on the others. that is what will be fun about the game. Every survivor is different. Having a change of view is just part of that on a Survivor with known people.

they already voted my hero off. if not for Sugar, Tom would have never freaking won. think about it she gave him a big chance. i was so disappointed. anyway, my only other hero i really like is JT. i like the villians more truthfully. i really hope Russel wins this time. i know he dont need the money but this guy is the best player of all time!! i think

now thats a funny one. i did wonder why he is always so pretty boyish. he is a bit good looking, but i noticed the first time he played he probably could have won instead of Tina. he practicly handed it to her. although i will admit she was a pretty good player. but hes always been so proper and boyishly good cowboy type with women.

I haven't really watched survivor in a really long time but last night my mom told me about this season because that one Rupert guy is on there. My mom and I used to watch survivor all the time when it first came out but then it just kind of got repetitive. I liked the first episode of the season and I'll probably continue to watch whenever I have the free time to.

Pastor G,
Glad to see you again here and I'd like to wish you - Kong Hee Fatt Choy (Happy Lunar New Year!
The much hyped Survivor series 20 has finally arrived and just as usual - did not fail to disappoint.
On the whole, I could see the Heroes being more organized of the two tribes at their camps. I must admit that I see this as a necessary discipline which is also necessary for the duration of the competition.
The Villains are really just disorganized and spoiled to the core and Boston Rob was just God sent for them where his Alpha male X-factor actual stood out above the rest. Which I just cannot help thinking if the organizers had categorized him wrongly and put him with the Villains. It is like WTH at the back of my head!!
However, the competition is not only keen but physically demanding. At the reward challenge, it is definitely not for the fainthearted watching Stephenie (Pulau) popping her shoulder, Sugar going topless and Rupert (Pearl) breaking his toe is just telling how tough and keen it is out there.
No doubt, the Heroes made an impression at the first challenge but I must give the Villains a hand when they came in where it matters most- Tribal Council! I do not know what happened but the Heroes are really lost with Jigsaws and it is just unthinkable. The Heroes were clearly in the lead until piecing the Jigsaw - what happened? I just do not have the answers there and I don't think they have it too.
Tribal Council is just consequential for the Heroes and it is certainly not nice to see them bring out the villain inside them so early in the game. I really felt sorry for Sugar to go out so early in the competition when it should have been, in my opinion, either Rupert (injury) or Stephenie (injury and previous team partner) or Amanda.
On the hindsight, it will be interesting to see if Russell can really come up with a new bag of tricks which to me is really needed. That is if he wants to last here. It is really too early for me to pick the final 4 but in my gut I am hoping for Tom, Pavarti, Rob and James.

I really thought the heros had a really good start. Obviously it did not last long. Per haps now they can change it around.
The villains, surprisingly are very well organize and I believe by nature are more clever therefore they have a mental advantage over the heros.

Pastor G,
I hope that they will really lower their high hero pedestal expectation out of their minds and really get their hands dirty.
This is survival and reality is equally as brutal as the elements. They need to win and win to avoid the elimination at the tribal council period.
Take care and have a nice day.

Yay!! Survivor time again!! I was a little surprised by some of the picks....where is Richard Hatch?? On that special surviving survivor last week they made it look like he would be on this season...and Johnny Fairplay too..they should have both definately been on the villian side....
I hope to see Russel go far this time too but I think he will have to play a completely different game this time if he wants to go far...I dont think his old game will work on this group!
I like Sugar ok as a person but I really didnt get why she was even on this season...i didnt view her as a hero....and i see it as no great loss that she is gone...
I hope Jerry Manthy goes soon because i find her very annoying....
I would like to see James make it far this time...and Rob too providing whatever happened to him doesnt put him out of the game!
I dont have any clear pick for the end yet...too soon for me!

Hey Pastor,
All I can say is WOW!! The beginning was super. I have to say my picks are a little different from yours. I like Colby as my favorite hero. But I too like Rupert. I hope he gets his confidence back or he could be in trouble. Then I like Tom. I'm really glad they chose to vote Sugar out. I couldn't believe how she was trying to latch onto Colby. She just didn't seem to be there for the game this time.
As far as the villans go, Russell has his work cut out for him. He won't be able to manipulate like he did last time. His game plan is all too familiar to everyone.
Like you said, it looks bad for Rob. I think that some of these games are a bit too much. Or maybe it's the players. All of them feel like they have something to prove so they are really putting it out there and getting too rough.
I'd like to pick my final four but I'm going to wait a week or so. I think Jerri could be a contender if she doesn't get too wrapped up with Coach. So until next week...
Leenie

I agree with you Leenie. Especially after seeing the last episode which I will start a discussion soon.
I think all of them have their work cut out for them. First of all they are playing with heightened attitudes toward each other. I am not sure how the attitudes will play out. Hmm. Will be interesting.
