If you were a student, would you add your teachers as friends of facebook?
I would never- its just too weird!
I wouldn't want my teachers seeing my social life or love life or anything. Isn't there some social boundary that keeps teachers and students seperateon some levels? w

Now, as an adult, I would. But back when I was a student (had such a thing as Facebook even existed), I would have felt really uncomfortable with that.

I realize I'm a bit older than 13 but in college I became friends with one of my teachers and now I consider her to be one of if not my best friend in the whole wide world. So it may just be your little sister is wiser beyond her years and connects with these people. But thats just one way to look at it

I think there's perfectly nothing wrong with adding teachers on facebook. Teachers are sometimes good advisers for your major decisions. So if they are able to get to know you better, they would be able to provide better advice for you. I have actually also added my former teachers that have taught me before so that I can know how they are now. It's also a way to show appreciation to the teachers.

Teachers shouldn't add students on facebook lol, it breaks some sort of law with contact with pupils outside of school. She should delete them.
O ye and thats just reallyyyy weird lol

Hi olisaur!^^
I agree. It would be weird if you are friends with your teacher in Facebook. But I think it would depend on the teacher. When I was still a student, there were a few teachers whom I didn't mind sharing some personal things so if there was Facebook before, I would add that teacher.^^ But certainly, I am not close to most of my teachers so I would have never added them! Just like I am never going to add my boss as a friend in Facebook.^^ I don't want my boss to know what I am posting and whatever it is I'm doing at Facebook. My boss and I have a good relationship but even so, there are things I don't want him to know about me.^^
Now that I am working, I have added two of my previous professors back in College. I don't mind them seeing my posts. But I don't share everything with them. Thank God for the privacy settings at Facebook.^^

since she is already a teen and now adding her elementary teacher i dont think there is something wrong with it. it is up to the teachers if they will add the students or not. i am a 36 years old adult and i will never add my teachers from elementary up to college. just my opinion. i was never friends with them. the relationship is only student teacher so that ends there.

Hello olisaur,
i do not add my teachers, because she/he can know what i had been feelings during the day. sometimes i write about what i am feelings in my facebook, so it feels like only my friends could understand what i am feeling. Besides i am afraid if my discuss in my facebook would affect my grade as well.

Nope, never, it would just feel too weird
My younger brother, who is currently attending senior school, says that the teachers look through Facebook and add students under fake aliases so that they can find out what they get up to, and what mischievious things they are doing at the week-end, like getting drunk at parties and such.

now it's okay to add them. Just want to get updated about their life.
But if I'm still a student like in gradeschool or highschool, I will not add them. I don't want them to see my social activities online. And they get to know if I'm online or not. And I can't express myself with friends. I think some teachers just want to know what you're it if you're online. Whether you are doing your project or just playing farmville!

i will also not to do so. because as a student, i never seem my teachers as my friend. there is something i can't tell them and i don't think they will understand my opinion. i think the most common relationship is that they teach, i learn. it is my way of treating teachers and students

Na i wouldn't like the idea of my teachers poking around their noses in my personal affairs. I would probably add them on my yahoo chat or something but not any of the social networking sites i have joined.

As a college student, I would add some of my professors as friends. I just declared a second major in Anthropology last semester, and a lot of the Anth professors are really awesome people. My Native North America professor, who is also head of the department, hosted a holiday party in her home this past December, and it was a ton of fun. I think that many of these professors have views similar to my own, so I wouldn't have to worry about saying anything on Facebook that might offend them (I try not to say offensive things on Facebook anyway- just a good policy). I probably would not add any of my elementary, middle, or high school teachers, though.

Of course. Why not? My children added them and contact with them everynight: asking homework, say hello, or other things. I think it's all right. It's not a shame! Hehehe. Happy MyLotting!
