Have you spent much time in the hospital during your life?

Although thankfully I haven't spent much time in a hospital in the past few years, I did spend most of 2 years in them when I was 6 and 7. I also used to spend a week or so in the hospital every few months was I was in my early 20's.
When I spent quite a bit of time as a patient I got to know and make friends with other patients and also with staff members. After a while I had favorite nurses and doctors.
Even after my health improved and I only had to be in the hospital on rare occasions, I remained friends with a few of the patients and one of the nurses for years afterwards. One nurse even came to my wedding 7 years ago.
Did you ever have to spend a lot of time in the hospital? Did you make any friends there? Did you keep in touch with any of them afterwards?

I wouldn't say that I've spent a lot of time in hospitals, but when I was a little I was in there for about a month straight once. I was too young to remember any of it though. And as I was just a baby at the time I didn't make any friends while I was there nor did I keep in touch with any of them afterward. However, there is one person there that I would have liked to have thanked personally...the doctor that saved my life. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't be here today.
Happy mylotting!

I wonder if you could track that doctor down so you could thank him. He might not remember you (since you've changed a bit since you were a baby) but he (or she) might be blessed by your words of appreciation.
I've gone back to thank doctors and nurses for what they've done to keep me alive during tough times. If it hadn't been for their care I wouldn't be here today and wouldn't have lived long enough to meet and marry the woman who makes me the happiest man in the world. :o)

Reading your experience I have been quite fortunate as up to about 4 years ago I hadn’t been into hospital. Since then I have been in and out every few months, sometimes just for a day procedure other times a bit longer with the longest thankfully only being 7 days.
But likewise I have got to know many of the nurses and always strangely enjoy seeing them again when I have to go back in. In fact they are so use to me now they just tell me which bed I am in and I just get on with things, such as getting into a hospital gown etc etc rather than for them having to tell me. It certainly makes easier when you get to know them.

People generally like it when others make their work easier for them. Your getting into your hospital gown and such without waiting to be told what to do lets the nurses be free to take care of other things.
I'm glad you've gotten to know some of the nurses in the hospital you've been going to, and I'm glad that is making your hospital visits almost enjoyable. If you have to be there anyway, it's good to have some things about it be pleasant.
I hope things improve for you and there can be months and even years when the only times those nurses will see you is when you drop by to say hi without a need to have a bed assigned to you.

I have spent a few times in the hospital for different things. Usually weird things... Injuries mostly. Only one lengthy stay. Mostly in and out of ER. Don't plan to spend any time in there for long. :*)

It is good to avoid trips to the ER whenever possible. But good the Emergency Rooms are there when we need them.
I was glad to have an Emergency Room to visit the day I asked the woman I loved to marry me. Shortly after I asked her to marry me I broke my leg. (No, she didn't kick me for asking her...although she might have wanted to kick me for waiting so long to get around to asking her :oD)
My broken leg was due to a bad driver cutting off the van I was in. Hopefully circumstances won't result in your needing to make any more trips to the ER.

When I was younger, I spent my fair share of time in and out of hospital thanks to inferior health and a multitude of problems
Now though, I haven't been in hospital since I was 18. I am very grateful for the good health I have developed growing up

I'm glad the care you got in the hospital when you were younger kept you going until you got to have the good health that is letting you do a lot more enjoyable things than being stuck in a medical facility.

As far as I am concerned, I seldom spend my time in the hospital. But unfortunately , I got hurt by the car several days ago,so I must went to the hospital for a long time.I hate staying in the hospitalwhich is just for the sick people. So I just want to stay as little timeas possible in the hospital. I enjoy the free time.

Car accidents sure to have a way of putting us in a place we don't want to be. We may need to be in the hospital to treat our injuries but we sure want to get out as soon as possible.
You're right about not wanting to be the hospital where you're around people who are sick. You might go in for an injury and catch some sickness while you are there. Not fun.
I hope you mend quickly and can get back home real soon.

Being in a hospital is so different than being in our own home. We can't do what we want when we want. Most of those who pay attention to us are sticking us with needles, or examining us, or giving us medicine. Not at all fun. It's good if at least one nurse of other medical person becomes friends with us so we can enjoy when they come around.

hello goodbuys,
The longest time i spent at the hospital is just a week.
And that is only every time i gave birth.
I had to stay for 4-7 days due to my operation.
I delivered my 3 kids thru ceasarian operations.
Aside from that,i am thankful that i never been admitted for any illness and need to stay at the hospital.
