Have you ever had any accidents caused by your neighbors?

Yesterday I went to bed some half an hour before midnight. I fell asleep, but woke up 45 minutes later, because I heard a sound of running water. I came out of my room and saw that there is water falling from ceiling. I live in an apartment house, on the ground floor. There are some power cable canals that connect the apartments with the power network. I think that the water was coming through one of these canals. Anyway, we headed upstairs and started knocking on the neighbor's door. After long time of knocking an old lady opened the door. She explained that she left a water running in the bathroom, in order to take a bath, but while waiting until the bathtub gets filled with water, she fell asleep. We had a lot of trouble with mopping up all that water, we also had to dry cables carefully. Fortunately the water didn't do any significant damage to the wallpaper. Have you ever faced any accidents that were caused by your neighbors? Share you story!:)

Not an accident but a nuisance really. My neighbours put on their music so loud that we could not hear our own. So one day we politely invited them over and asked them whose music they could hear in our house. They got the point but till then we have had sleepless nights. This happened years ago. We now have our own property where we are far away from neighbours, thankfully.

Some people just don't understand that their loud music may disturb other neighbors. I think your decision to invite them over was right, you showed them how serious the problem really is. It's good that you have your own property now, you don't depend on neighbors anymore. Thanks for responding!:)

Yea that is what I want to do move to a place with land so that I dont have neighbors because most times neighbors arent the best in the world and it ends up being a pain vs. being a good thing. I have lived by 1 good person and that is only because she had been a friend of the family for year on end. I had never had to worry about anything she always had our backs. She would come over talk to us, help watch for susptious stuff, and never caused problems.

Wow I am happy that the situation didnt get any worse and result in serious injury .I dont have any such dramatic story to tell but once my neighbour who hadnt moved in yet caused my elctricity to be disconnected. They didnt have a regular power supply but needed to do work there and so piggy-backed on my supply and when the electricty technician realised that they had made an illegal connection from my side tehy disconnected my supply and I had to spend about four days before I got connected again

Damn, four days is a crazy long time without electricity for me! Your neighbors acted really dirty when secretly connected to your power line. I bet they didn't think about the consequences you and they may have had when doing such illegal operation. It's really shocking for me that such people exist. Thanks for sharing your story!:)

I know I just dont understand what this world is coming to nowdays. I mean people are willing to steal electricity, cable, water and all kinds of things. Why would you do that. You could cause it to spark and cause fires. This could inturn kill someone or injure them. What if that wire jumped off there with sparks and hit the ground and someone came down the yard and stepped near it and the elctricty went through them and killed them wouldnt you feel bad? Do they just not think of these things when they do that?

No, I havent but thats gonna freak me out worring that the upstairs guy will forget or something and I will have water everywhere. I have always been scared that someone would ketch there apt on fire. I am terrified of that. I know there has been fires here alot before. I have been through a fire and I really dont want to relive that at all. I spent a year in a hotel having to eat fast food it got bad and boring quick!

Yes, you may never know what are your neighbors up to and are they really keeping an eye on their business. I feel sorry for that fire accident you had. Fires are terrible and can cause a great damage to the property and even destroy lives. That's why in our country it's mandatory for every family to have a smoke detector at home. Thanks for responding!:)

I live in Estonia. This law came into force this summer, so from that time on you may get fine for not having one at home.

What country are you in that is a great law. I would be so scared forever if I thought about what my neighbors are doing. I am not gonna spend my life fearing what could happend to me because of my neighbors. I am just not gonna spend my life worring. If it is supose to happen I am sure it will one way or another.
