It really hurts everytime I swallow and I want to get rid of it. I don't want to get sick again because I always miss days of school. Lately I have noticed that I am getting sick a lot this year probably it's because I have a low immune system. Does anybody know any home made recipes or something that can help me?

If you like tea make some hot tea and put either lime or lemon juice in it and add sugar and a little bit of honey it will help for awhile. Hope you feel better. And if you have any peppermint candy have some of that. Sorry you are sick!

I have a special way of curing a sore throat. I live about 20 minutes from Mexico, where I can buy a bottle of Tequila, unrefined and very cheap. When I get a sore throat, or feel one coming on, I pour a shot of tequila, straight from the bottle, and drink it undiluted. It burns all the way down, and the sore throat disappears. AT the return of the sore throat, the remedy is repeated, until either the throat is cured, or the patient is rendered unconscious. (This is guaranteed to work!)

That is some method you got there. Still though I am not old enough to drink yet and my mommy would get upset with me. Still it's great that it helps you get rid of your sore throats.

hi anime123 when Ihad a strept throat I went to my doctor first so he could do a swab of my throat and sure enough it was a bacterial infection so he put me on antibiotics but the one thing that really helped it to get well fast along with the pills was to gargle with hot water with salt in it,not so hot it will burn however, and do this every few hours. Also the only thing that really stopped the pain so I could swallow was ice water, sipped slowly but it did stop the pain. If you are really in a lot of pain you should be checked for a strept throat as it will need antibiotics to cure it, as its caused by the strept bacteria. so do check with your doctor to be sure,if its just viral then gargle with hot salt water and drink ice water til you are rid of the sore throat, and get a lot of rest too. if you are not taking multiple vitamins you should be to boost your immune system.

I have a wicked sore throat right now too. The only thing helping me is lots of liquids and lots of cough drops. I'm taking zinc lozenges too, which really does help a good bit. I'm opposite of what others are saying, for some reason the best drink to make my throat feel better is cold chocolate milk. Hope you get to feeling better, it sure isn't fun!

I usually have the same concern back when I was still studying. The best home made recipe to ease the pain is hot water with ginger and put honey or may be a little sugar on it. That would definitely help. Also, drink Vitamin c to help build your immune system. You may also try gargling those bottled ones for sore throat it definitely helps. Just make sure to not drink cold drinks already to not add more to the heat of your sore throat.

Actually I have been drinking cold drinks, but I have found that it makes it hurt more like that. So I will drink warm drinks now and make sure that I am not drinking cold liquids.

A mixture of 3 tablespoonswarm pure lemon juice with honey and cayenne pepper gives instant relief, I've tried it and it really worked. Try to do this before anything else. Other remedies: 1) I'd also cut up some garlic into very tiny pieces. Add two cups of water, a little salt to taste and boil this until only one cup of the mixture remains. Drink this before you go to bed. Upon waking up in the morning, do the same. 2) A mixture of apple cider vinegar, powdered garlic, honey and cayenne pepper is also very effective. You can do this in between to speed up the healing process. 3) And yes, like other mylotters have suggested, gargle with lukewarm water and salt every few hours. 4) Drink a lot of water, any citrus juice, take Vitamin C and have plenty of rest. I hope you feel better, anime123!

Oh Anime123, too bad for you then...who wants to get sick and have ouchy throut and altogether miss school right? Anyway, first of all, if you're sick with a sorethroat...you'll have to ask yourself what are the means to alleviate the pain to provide relief and comfort on your part. I would suggest for you to gargle 2-3 times a day with an anti-bacterial mouth/throat wash. Some of these may actually be medically prepared to have properties to relief throat pain. If you are not the type to use mouth/throat washings, there are also throat lozenges that you may actuall eat like candies. Some of them too have antiseptic and anesthetic properties for pain. But you must be aware that it could cause slight numbness of tongue and there can be a thickening feeling in the mouth...just let it be because it may actually indicate the medicine is working. But do notify the doctor if you have certain allergies to certain medications. Next thiny you should consider is, are there any associated symptoms like fever and body aches? If such happens maybe you need to seek consultation with a physician because we might be dealing with some sort of an infection...could be viral or bacterial in nature. Usually the doctor may have to do a physical examination and may take a good look of your throat area and may obtain some samples they can send for laboratory analysis. Usually analgesics and some antibiotics are prescribed and you should take them diligently. THe third thing is try to analyze your sleeping routines. Maybe you are not having enough rest these past few days or weeks. Perhaps you need to take some time off and rest for a while to actually help your immune system to fight the illnes you may have. Try taking vitamins especially vitamin C because this helps boost your immune system. Try to drink lots of fluid and of course any food rich in Vitamin C...in the US they drink promeganade juice because it is rich in anti-oxidants that our body needs. You may also drink lots of fresh orange juice. Try to stay away with sugary juice drinks...stick to fresh ones..this actually helps. Get well soon Anime...hope i may have actually helped...happy mylotting.

i don't know anything that will help your immune system necessarily, except vitamins, particularly vitamin C; taking a multi-vitamin 3 times a day will really help. as far as the sore throat goes, i have a few suggestions (if you've already tried these, ignore me); some herbal tea will work wonders, especially chamomile or green tea; or you could try some peppermint herbal tea because the minty-ness will numb the pain a bit. i've also hear (though i've never tried) that honey in herbal tea works wonders, as well. i just don't really like honey. gurgle some warm salt water...it seems like it wouldn't work, but the salt will actually draw the moisture out of your glands, making them less inflamed, and will ease the pain greatly. boil a bouillon cube (any flavor- i usually use chicken) in some hot water and drink that... it does the same thing as the salt water, but tastes much better. it will help the inflammation and decrease the discomfort. another thing, though it isn't a home recipe, is ibuprofen. again, it isn't aspirin, but it takes away all of the fluid build up in your body that causes the aches and pains (like in your throat) and makes everything hurt a little less. (it will make you pee a lot though - those toxins have to go somewhere!) other than that...rest. your body regenerates and heals while you sleep, so the more sleep you get, the better. hope this helps. :]

for your sore throat - drink ginger ale (boil water with strips of ginger in it then drink then drink it after cooling, you'll feel a burning sensation on your throat after swallowing but after that you'll feel like it's really working hehe), take medications prescribed by your doctor, don't talk too much, NO sweets, take lozenges. for your low immunity - bed rest, 2 liters of water per day, vitamins (a, e, zinc, c), fruits and veggies, and manage stress from school :)
