Hi, I'm into web-design for a while now, I think you should consider to start with dreamweaver, learn all the techniques and you can also learn to creat some flash animations, The three essential softwares for you to complete your quest is, dreamweaver (for the html and css), flash ( for the animations ), photoshop or fireworks (for working with images ) I'm working on my own site after spending a lot of time building for others. You will soon be able to visit me at this temporary address: http://reploidesigns.50webs.com . Enjoy, and have a great weekend.

HTML is basically a tab based language and in this you have very limited feature of styling so to add interactivity to your website you can use Cascading style sheet (CSS) its quite common and very easy to learn it is widely used to add interactivity in sites. You can use css to add interactivity and define your own custom style in css and apply in your web...
you can learn css in w3schools.com and other online websites..

First, you need to learn making a static HTML. Go to w3schools.com, they offer a primer on HTML or see Lynda.com's Learning HTML. Lynda offers high quality learning videos that's easy to learn.
Also, consider downloading a copy of Dreamweaver or Topstyle (I've learned CSS just by using Topstyle and learned HTML just by hand coding using Notepad ++). To create your own design, you need to learn CSS. CSS is very easy to learn and since I could see you're determined, then it won't take long for you to make your best website.
Try to see some articles about HTML and CSS from professional web designers and join online communities like CSS-Tricks.com or Meetup.com.
