Its not a play on words. Really,it has a large meaning inside. There are some sort of people who only eat to live. They eat the things only which are necessary to sustain their life. Just for getting enough strength, they ll eat. But I can tell myself as a second type, who is living to eat. LOL. I will eat whatever I wish to take at any time, if I can eat and there is enough money in my pocket. What kind of person you are?

Well, my friend. Reads like you've been born in rich family who don't have to think about earning money. You don't have worry about when, how and what'll you eat, but I've to. I'm a poor guy who has to survive with very careful usage of money, though I'm a great eater. Allah has sent us to this world not only for eating, but to live in amity with others. As long as we live in this world, we should maintain peace for mankind. We eat only because we've to survive. If we live only to eat, what signifiance do we have being born as the supreme creature of Allah? I think it's very silly of them who think we live only to eat. Eating is one of the basic needs of human being. Of course, I enjoy my meal, but eating exceptional foods is a bonus to me. Because if you eat them regularly, they will be no more interesting to you. They are interesting because the occasion of eating better comes all on a sudden, not every time. I hope you won't misunderstand me. Have a nice eating.

i'm definitely the live to eat kind of people. it baffles me how some people don't enjoy food at all. i guess it's really a case of different strokes for different folks. i know people who say certain places offer good food just because the portion is big. the taste of the food doesn't matter to them at all. to me, this is really distorting the meaning of good food.
food is enjoyable and definitely more than just mere sustenance. if all it is meant to be is to sustain life, then there wouldn't be different cuisines and condiments. all we need to do is just boil our food in water.

I live to eat. My wife and I are both pretty good cooks, and I have a few friends who do pretty good as well, so I like to cook up and bunch of stuff. I like having leftovers, because I will eat them for several days until they are gone. It is usually just as cheap to cook bigger portions anyway, and it also means that I have to cook less often when I am busy.
This has started me to thinking...it is about time to do some BBQ... LOL

I must confess to being the latter, and I'm looking to tame that urge. Somewhere between the two extremes is the proper balance. Food is a requisite source of sustenance and necessary energy, as well as vital to good health and growth. It also happens to be a source of enjoyment and, for some, creativity. I enjoy cooking and find it a creative outlet. But it certainly can become too much of a good thing so easily. Gluttony is the extreme self-destruct for those who have a problem balancing need and greed when it comes to food.
Growing up, I remember my dad always being concerned about what his next meal would be. He never had an "eating disorder" as we would label it today, and had no
weight problem, but his preoccupation with food is something that transferred to me, somehow in my late twenties. For my dad, I think it was because he grew up poor and during the war, so there was a feeling of lack, as well as the normal enjoyment of good food; he never ate dessert. For me, it was a recognition that somehow, though I never did it growing up, I suddenly could cook very well. No one was more surprised than I.
Now, it's a bit of a struggle not to give in to a preoccupation with food, or use it as my only creative outlet or source of comfort. Food is made to be enjoyed as well as to be a source of fuel. I don't like bland or ordinary food, but I do not want to always be thinking of cooking and eating; so it's back to balance and moderation!

I live to eeat! :) I eat nutritious food, but I also only eat foods that I like. My husband is a fantastic gourmet cook who is not only good at cooking, but who absolutely loves to cook. He is a wonderful cook, and makes wonderfully delicious and nutritious foods. We don't eat a lot of junk food at home, but we do go out for treats now and then. In Danish culture food is something to be enjoyed, not just an essential in life.

Ever since I have quit smoking it seems like I have been eating a lot more. I can eat and 10 minutes later want to eat again. So I would have to say that I live to eat now where as before I quit smoking I ate once a day and guess I just ate to live.
Well I do not know how much of this will answer you question if at all but I will describe my situation and answer to the best of what I can.

It seems they are in the same meaning,my friend. I don't particularly get your points here.
Will you differentiate the two sentence "eat to live and live to eat"? This is troubling me if how you can emphasize those sentence in your own. Because as I look into it they are in the same views...

I guess, I am a more of a live to eat guy as I work on weekdays and on weekends I go out and collect foodstuffs that I like and collect a bunch of them so that I have adequate quantity when I feel hungry but not in the sense just that I will keep on eating them until I become fat and can't move myself. I like to be fit and finer which means to eat healthy foodstuffs along with enjoying life!!

I too live to eat. When I get up on the morning, I already know what I'm having for dinner. And when I work, sometimes I think more about what I'm going to eat in the evening than I do about my work. I always make my best meals for the weekend so by Monday, I'm torturing myself every day thinking about that big weekend meal. So I loved to eat and live to eat.

Definitely "Live to Eat." I adore food. Cooking it, smelling it, eating it, talking about it. There's nothing I enjoy more than preparing a huge meal with close friends. Or making a snack run in the middle of the night. I think all the best vices (eating, drinking, smoking) have a social aspect to them. Not only do they bring pleasure in and of themselves, but they allow you to bond with other people in a more relaxed way. People really open up when there's a carnal pleasure involved. Hahaha.

Hello, Avimra. I'm a bit of a mixture. I'm watching my weight, so I try to eat sensibly. However, every now and then I have an attack of the munchies and I'll demolish anything and everything in my path. A locust is anorexic compared to me when I get an attack of the munchies.
Fortunately, it doesn't happen very often. My friend, though, is another story. he really is obssessed with food. As soon as one meal's over, she's asking what everyone fancies for the next one. She'll try to take orders for breakfast at 8.00pm the previous evening, and she buys so much bread, because she's afraid of running out, that she throws away more than she uses. I'd hate to be like that.

This is a really good question and to be honest I'm not really sure which one I am. I DO eat so I can live but then sometimes I'll eat more than I need to and I guess that's living to eat although that sounds very weird, my purpose to live isn't to eat, so you can see why I'm confused. I wouldn't say I overeat, I just usually eat as much as I need to...

I think live for eating is very bad habit, because you will get only harm from this, you will become fat, lazy and ugly by this, I take only nutritious food and quantity is only as much as I need to survive. so I am a person eat to live.

Funny thing is I live to eat and I am not fat. If you workout and eat healthy then you have nothing to worry about. I am a very active person and not all people will fall into the category that you suggested they do.

Similar discussion again. I always eat to live only. This is what should be followed by every human. Over eating is not only injurious to health but also a crime as it, in my opinion, amounts to wasting food. It is similar to wasting fuel, wasting water and other natural resources which are so precious to sustain life in this world.
