Installing specific software to monitor the volume of bandwidth is rather superfluous as your ISP should supply the information.
Simply log in to your Internet Service Provider's website and the information should be available and itemised for each day.

ashoknarwal,
I am wondering if an Unlimited plan sign up could be more practical and cost effective over buying some Internet Usage Monitor software to monitor your usage. I mean what if your monitor tells you that you've reach your access plan's limit before the end of the month? Stop your internet activity?
Frankly, I am not a fan for such a plan especially the price tag for the additional bytes above your free access and I have had friends who come back with an exorbitant bill at the end of the month. You need to remember that internet usage plans most of the time are unlike cellphone plans and anything excess are never cheap and there's no way you can control them.
Anyway it is really up to you and if you are still not convinced then you may try the following known (tested) and virus free software programs to monitor your usage.
Internet Usage Monitor 8.0 (Windows) by Gaurav Creations

I use freewarefiles dot com for most of the software that I use. If you go to the site, do a search with the keywords 'bandwidth monitor', with the 'all words' option ticked. I have used several of the programs listed including Networx. It has many options and deserves the five star rating. Have a look at it.

There are lot of software available to measure our internet usage. Most of them are to be bought for the continious usage. You may try with the trial versions and if you are satisfies with their features, you can purchase them. Refer some of the links to know about them and to down load the trial versions.

Sometimes you can get this information through your internet service provider. If you're using a router you can go to your router settings online and look it up. But in order to answer you with a lot more detail, I need to know who your ISP is (internet service provider) and if you connect directly through their modem or if you're doing it through a wireless router. This makes a differance in how the net travels.
