How many hours a day does your cat sleep???

I have 6 cats and they spend most all of the daytime hours sleeping. They have their daily routine...they all get up in the morning when my wife and I get up. They usually get to all split a can of food....plus the dry food they get. They love the teaspoon of canned food they get in the morning! It's the highlight of their day!
The rest of the day most of them just lay around and sleep...at least 18 or so hours a day!
A couple of them like to play for a while during the day and then crash out for the rest of the day.
If your a cat owner, how many hours a day do you think your cat sleeps??

I'm interested to learn this Yuga as I didn't know it before. Pets are very popular here in the western world, I personally don't know what I would do without my pets....oh how they make me smile!

my cat is a little bit wild cat,
it comes to house just for eating something and quickly leave.
it doesn't eat can food, it eats what we eat.
it is seldom to see it in the house during the daytime.
and at the night you won't find it in the house at all because it goes for dating...hahaha

LOL funny. I know a cat who is something like that. He roams my hometown neighbourhood, visiting all over probably recieving treats. He seems to be the leader of a whole pack of cats who can be seen sitting and roaming together instead of being territorial.
He is a grey and white stripey cat named Riley who just sort of stumbled into our lives as a kitten.

thats cute! what colour is she? I know someone who feeds cats that way. There are about 14 or 15 of them around and during the winter they live in the barn. Most of them are pretty friendly.

I have a lot of different cats that come to my yard. I built a little house for them that is heated and I put dry food out for them every day. They know to come here at least once a day to get a bite and move on to the next .....
This is how we got "Balonie" she was an outdoor cat that came around everyday to eat. Very friendly. We let her in that winter and she never wanted to even go out again! She's a sweetheart!

Our cats probably sleep as much as yours. They get up, eat, if it is warm they go outside and sleep, then come inside and sleep then go to the door to go out again, etc. Sleeping as much as possible in between.

Not often anymore. I have had mice, birds, squirrels and rabbits in the past.

On average they sleep about 18 hours. Although during that 18 hours they aren't totally in deep sleep. Of course they have my heated water bed to sleep on, so they thoroughly enjoy the time they do sleep! They are nocturnal animals and do their "hunting" during that time. Since they are inside cats, they keep the house free of mice, which is really nice.
When I get up in the morning they do their ritual race through the house celebrating the fact that I got up and am active so THEY can have the bed to themselves.

I wake up each morning to a gentle pat on the lips by Willy, it's his way of saying "Good Morning, I missed you". He's curled up beside me right now, doing what cats do best, napping. Cats have cute down to a science and they know what to do to make you love them more!

awwe cats are so cute when they're sleeping! So cute and so much less destructive. My Toby is sleeping right now upside down with his head dropping off the edge of the lounge and his paws out in front under his chin.
He sleeps several blissful hours in between which he wakes up to eat, cuddle and play.

He really is amazing. My angel, Im so glad to have him, and I think he's happy to have me too... I'd ask him but he's still sleeping; curled up this time with his head on one paw.

Hehehe. THat's cute. My cat sleeps almost all day! she wakes up at around 7am to eat, then she lounges around on the porch and sleeps. she wakes up again at 12 for her lunch, and then sleeps on the couch until 3pm. she eats her snacks again by that time. and then she sleep until 7pm. all she does is sleep!
Hehehehe. Now she's really fat, fatter than Garfield!

That's pretty FAT!!
Be careful...that's also not very healthy for your kitty. Overweight can cause a lot of other issues sometimes.
I hope she is fine though! I'm sure she is very cute!! It sounds like the same as how my cats act here.
Have a great day!

i have actually heard that cats sleep about 70 percent of the time which is quite a lot! my cat sleeps on and off during the day and i usually see her curled up at different points during the night (when i wake up at least). i know my moms cat sleeps almost all day but plays with her toys all night!

it really varies per cat.i have 6 too,and the oldest 4 (9 years old each) sleep most of the day,and the 2 two year olds are usually up running around.the oldest boy (by a couple of minutes)probably sleeps the most of them all-at least 13 hours per day.
of course,if there's a good sunbeam going, all bets are off.they're all asleep in it LOL

i don't observe my cat . as my cat stays outside the door. i just see my cat when i have to bring him food. but usually see it laying on the porch or anywhere though not necessarily sleep. but just resting.

I honestly do not know how long my cats sleep for... At times it seems like all day. Particularly our oldest cat Milo.. He can usually be found on the bed snoozing. Bigfoot on the other hand commonly spends the day exploring, especially looking out all the windows (shes staring out the slider as I type this). All I know is my cats definitely sleep longer than I get to. Guess thats why I envy them on occasion.

My cats name is Tara. I have had her since she was a kitten, she's now 6 years old. These past couple of years she has become a little lazy. She is an outside cat and comes and goes when she pleases. She will sleep the whole night with me in bed (she hogs one whole side of bed)! When morning comes she will eat a little then head right outside to do some hunting of her own. She will only be out there for a couple hours or 15 minutes depends on weather, then come in and spend most the day in my big fluffy chair. I wake her up a couple times throughout the day so I can have my chair back to do some work. She will normally just find somewhere else to lay down when I do this. Then when night time is coming around she will go outside again, then come in and eat a little. Then it is her bedtime and mine and we go to sleep together. She is a wonderful cat! I love her so much! She is my little cuddle cat that just sleeps a lot.

Our cats hunt outside and I have seen them watch a hole for hours, then they come inside and sleep for 10 hours. They then throw up what ever is left of what they caught and within a short time are hungry again. I am so use to this It ddoesn't even bother me anymore.

Not enough as far as I am concerned!! We have a kitten, she is about 9 months old and she seems to never sleep, we also have 2 kids which chase and play with her and she does very well with some of the rough housing my kids do from time to time but for the most part she loves the attention she gets from the kids.
Several times a night we will hear things get tipped over and go check only to find the cat is still up and playing with something... I am not sure exactly when this kitten sleeps for now...so I will be happy to see her sleep as she gets older.
We had cats before we had kids, and those cats slept... and slept... so that is why I am surprised to see this cat is always awake.
Happy Mylotting.

Well I don't actually have a cat, I've got a rabbit. My rabbit also likes to sleep a lot. I think he sleeps just like your cats around 18 hours a day, perhaps even more. When he is not sleeping, he fills himself up or cleans his fur. He is a really tidy rabbit, he cleans himself after any activity, even after sleeping.

Sorry, my friend. I've not yet been a cat owner. So, I have no idea how many hours a cat sleep a day. Have a nice petting.

Our cats will generally sleep during the day and sometimes at night. they are up about three four hours a day. Usually active when George comes home from work or something. Precious will eaither sleep on the bed with me, or he'll sleep under the bed. Right now he wants to go in the bedroom because he wants the food. George got some that Precious will like.
