We see it everywhere we look now a days. The lighting of the cigarette. I myself have personally tried to smoke cigarettes, but after I have finish it, I feel so uncomfortable, light headed and unsettling inside. After that experience Ive never touched one since. I have a few friends and family members that do smoke and whenever I ask them the reasons for smoking they would tell me it is just to relax the nerves. What makes a person stay addicted to the cigarette? What are your experiences with smoking or having friends or family that smoke?

of course b'coz of nikotin. it produces good feeling. it also reacts with the brain to be more energic but sometimes on the contrary. it triggers the smoker to increase the dosage. My friend said it was difficult to quit b'coz he depended on it to feel good unless he feel worse.

Interesting. So it can be the nicotine itself that is the major culprit. It really is some powerful stuff I guess.

I recently asked a heavy smoker why they refused to use a nicotine inhaler like the one you can get from most pharmacies. He told me that although it delivered the same amount of nicotine, it just didn't feel the same. He reported that the inhaler has a number of problems, but they are all psychological. For example, you cannot light an inhaler, or stand around talking to other smokers whilst using it.

May be men get used to these because of their tensions and worries.I seen that they smoke every half an hour.May be they are used and attached to it.Some women are also smoking these days.Time changed with many new things sprouting.

You are another strong willed one. Most people who smoke just can't fight the addiction off so easily. It really has a large grip on today's society, but the world is becoming a more stressful place to live.

Me too. Even though Ive tried it in the past, the feeling I got just wasn't worth it for me. Plus I didn't want to continue and wind up getting addicted to it. It is a a very tempting piece of stick.

Yes, you're right tdiamond33, at first, when smoking, you'll feel light-headed and even leads to puking when you're not used to it. i, myself, smokes socially and after a few sticks, i feel like to puke. and i hate it. So, i decided to withdraw and thank God, i did. i can now control myself not to. i think what makes a person get addicted to smoke is when he's pressured by his peers who also smoke. The reason you gave, "to relax the nerves" is not the actually the reason because as you said, it doesnt make you feel better after puffing a stick.

That's how I started smoking years ago. Some of my friends were smokers so they would always offer me a smoke even though they knew I didn't. But in the long run it is up to you to make the decision not to.

My mom and dad smoked but I don't . In fact I'm alergic.I think there is something in the make up of some people that make them tolerate smoking better than others.
