We have had fish tanks but recently got rid of the fish and drained them. They were my Moms fish and she is tired of the care. The best source for advice on the care of your fish is the pet stores. Maybe frequent different ones with the same questions and then make your own plan from the information that you have gathered. My advice is to read everything in the manuals from your tank and filter. It is important to keep the PH level right in the water. I have seen plastic plants cause the ph level to go out of range. Almost anything you want to know can be found by searching online. Here are some links for caring for your tank: Be Careful Adjusting Your Aquarium pH http://www.fishtanktutor.com/ Hints and Tips http://www.tropicalfishcentre.co.uk/Hints.htm Step by Step Start Up http://badmanstropicalfish.com/start_up/start_up7.html You can also go to the manufactures website of your tank and filter to get some really good information and join fish forums. There are some neat tools that you can get to help maintain your tank too and to help keep it clean as well. We had to remove a bit of water weekly and add clean water. Read up about it or talk to your local pet store first so to be privy to the proper way to prepare your water before adding to the tank. Have fun and enjoy your new fish. maybe take some pictues so we can see them.
