Art is so varied, I really don't think there is a "best".
The best art, as I've seen, was either spontaneous or straight from the heart. I honestly don't think it's possible to be a great artist without either of these two.
I am a musician, so I figure that is somewhat of an artist. For me, it's not about being the best. I do not plan to be very good at all with music. I don't mind if I'm at the bottom of the well in terms of ability. What I DO want to do with music is be passionate about it. That's it. There's no desire in me to do anything but enjoy the art of music for what it's worth.
I also don't think fame is all that. I feel like if you were a famous artist, and everybody knew you produced good artwork, people would be on your toes a lot. People would just expect more and more from you and they would wonder when the next big thing is coming out. I like doing my own projects for pleasure and fun, because even if I quit, twenty years from now, I'll still have these incredible keepsakes. And they'll always be mine. They won't belong to a museum or any copyright laws. My creations will always belong to me.
