Why do Newbies leave as fast as they come in?

I wonder why newbies don't have the staying power in mylot? I have noticed few who come in with explosives posts in the tune of 10 - 20 discussions per day. Their presences are well felt because they posted topics that were mind boggling and sometimes hot. It is fun to have new bloods injected to the sometimes sleepy atmosphere in mylot but now the ones that rock this site are no longer around. What could have deterred their active participation here?
While we veterans have been around for a long time and still happy to stay loyal to mylot simply because mylot has become part of our daily chores in the virtual world. I like this place and have met many friends that have become more like my real friends in the real world. Leaving mylot means leaving behind the friendships that I have fostered through mylot and which I can't afford to do. I hope it goes to all mylotters to stay united despite sometimes having to undergo the 'battle of the tongues' as it is part and parcel of being a true mylottian. There is no permanent enemies in mylot and we should uphold the true spirit of mylot by engaging our intellectual minds in healthy debates. So don't quit when you are still much needed here.

my daughter quit this site just recently. she did it because she was here for the earning purpose and no other reason. i understand people become close online, but she doesn't feel like it's "real". although, she says she did consider it al earning experience.

Use it as what you usually use in your usual search engine. You can see it right at the top of this page. I find that the earnings somehow more than I used to get when I use mylot search engine I am not sure but I guess it automatically adds up to the daily income if you use their search engine.

Hi I have question on your post. I hope I am doing this right. How do you earn money from using their search engine and what is their search engine? I have not really been able to navigate myself through some of the features and any guidance is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. My apologies if I am doing this wrong.

I think people have a hard time settling down to anything any more.I think the biggest reason they don't stick around is because they didn't make the money they thought they would. It has never been about the money w/me altho it's nice when u do get it. The friendships i have made on mylot mean alot more to me thn what money u make. Everybody is looking for a quick fix to being rich.I accepted a long time ago i was never going to be rich, lol. HAPPY VALENTINE'S.

hi zandy and antiquelady yes they do miss so much as the reality of making friends from all over the world,is worth a lot to me even if
I only make a small earnings, I have friends to talk to, and something
worthwhile to do with my retirement hours. sitting around listening to
television twelve hours a day on some old reruns was not my idea of using my retirement time, so found mylot and kept my sanity by mylotting a lot.

that another thing I look at how many post they have done and to see if any of my friends are on there list before I accept
Gobs of friends with no posts makes ya wonder than they stat trying to get you to join something else even if its in the banners they put on their profile.
Have to look at all that before you accept.

Probably because they come here expecting myLot to turn them into over-night millionaires, and are disappointed when their dreams are tarnished by reality
Those people are not true myLotters. They are only interested in the money, not about contributing toward the community and making myLot an even better place than it already is

I think it is a matter of patience. People don't want to take a long time to earn money. Well I would say time is money. But in case of earning on net, I would say "To achieve something, you have to loose something." I am a newbie here and I will stay for few months in mylot to check if I am really earning. If I am earning then i will not leave this site.

Hello..chetanvk, welcome to mylot. I hope you will understand well the working of this site and will make a commitment to stay. Probably it might not be a good earning site but with the new options introduced here recently, you can avail yourself to make full use of them and make a decent earning here. You can use the search engine here to increase your earnings. Happy mylotting.

as a new comer they will join mostly with the aim to make some money and thus they will give their best topics and will be working with more interest . but since the money we earn in the initial stages are very slow they would not have much patience and they feel that their work is not worthless and thus they start to leave mylot .

I guess some people are not as patient as we are, or don't feel like taking the time it takes to do well here on MyLot. A real shame though, because I love the new people that I have met on here, and have met some nice newbies that have not stuck around. As you can tell, I am not a newbie, and I stuck around. LOL

ha ha, you noticed all these newbies too. i myself, have joined in mylot for about 2 years. but i never think to leave mylot. eventhough i don't login to mylot daily. i know mylot is the best place to discuss with. and i don't look for money here. since i think it's not fast to earn money here. they who left so early might think the same as me. but they did look for money here and they're patient enough then they left.

some people come to mylot thinking the site will make them money faster than those sites they have already joined and where they already earned. some people come here only for cash and when they found out that it is impossible for them to earn as fast as they can, they leave and find another sites. they will only come back after doing a lot of search only to find out that there is no other site that will not only give them extra earning opportunity but will earn more of the money, and that is friends.
i may be one of them. and i am one of them.
but i am staying and sticking on here. i found better friends here than in any other social networking sites. i can find true friends here.

As others have mentioned I suspect that a lot of new members joined because we get paid here and upon discovering that the money isn’t a lot they move on to more profitable areas which is a shame because this place is so much more than a means to earn. It is a pity especially when the new members may have a real talent for interesting and fun discussions. Personally I don't see how anyone can not have fun here!

I see what you see here. I sometimes feel embarrassed for being here most of the hours but can't help it as I have lots of free time in my hands and since my present residence is isolated and am detached from my real world friends. The only recourse for me is to come to mylot to pass my time and disturb the peace here.

I love your 'disturbance' zandi! You should not feel embarrassed for enjoying it here; I feel exactly the same and this is not a bad place to be at all on the Internet compared to some! Here we make good friends and learn and earn at the same time, nothing wrong with that in my view!

Hi zandi I have been here for a while and don't post very often but I like the discussions and I would make a comment in some of them [ according to my mood] or what I like and if I have something to offer, but I just like to read and see what other people have to say is very interesting!and I love it! Im not here to make money but I like the discussions and I have learnt on my lot a lot. Do I make sense?

Not in only mylot but in all aspect in life consistency is a matter of fact in case of durability. In study life almost all people enter into the primary level. How many of them complete the last exam of last exam of the education system. In the test number of candidate is decreased.
New user comes tried hard and most of them leave and a few are remain. Different cause behind it.....
1. Most of the user think that it is very easy to earn in mylot. But after joining the site they realize that it is not so easy to earn in mylot. So basically who join this site as a easy online earning source they compel to leave in very short period.
2. Some user this that writing and participation in discussion is very easy. And they write with out thinking. But with out interesting topic and art of writing there writing are not appreciated. And day by day they start to feel that writing is not under their capacity. And they are depressed and leave the site.
3. Very time consuming to continue this site. So those people can't able to find out time for this site. In curiosity to know how this site is, they join in enthusiasm, but practically feel very hard to continue with.
4. Other some find it is different than their presumption. And they loose interest in this site.
Apart from them other continue with this site.
In debate difference of views makes some difference between people. But all those are only for debate. This types of difference should not take in heart. Personal feeling between all user should maintain with friendly manner. But in contrary to this in practicality we find some person who take differences in views in debate as personal and take those as a cause of enmity. This is not healthy environment but people's minds are very variable.

The reasoning you outlined here are logical and I have no doubt they are the main factors that influence the pullout of newbies from this site. One need to have a strong interest in what one is doing to be able to remain longer in any one site. It becomes stressful if one can't find the right footing. Posting a lame discussion will not only see disastrous result but it will only create a disappointment on the the original poster. The bullet should be ready before you shoot at the right target. Meaning you need to know your subject well and write in a manner that can captivate the readers mind. There are tons of discussions here and it is not easy to be noticed if you don't put extra efforts to what you write. Putting earnings in the forefront will be very stressful if it doesn't reach your expectations.

One serious allegation here against some myloter from new user . Some of senior user are rude and not behave in a friendly manner. I am not confirm about the authenticity of that allegation. Even in response to a discussion on the behavior of senior users of this site I have suggested them to report to the admin regarding this matter instead of making discussion on such matter. I have not face any arrogant behavioral from senior user. But as such discussion are posted regarding rude behavior and the poster complain that some senior user want that that particular user is insulted by some senior member, and if there any truthfulness behind his complain then it is also a matter of annoy for all. I am not confirm on that allegation even report that discussion as abused matter. But smoke indicate the existence of fire behind. So it is now a considerable matter that is the approach of senior member repulse the new user. I want to state this matter because some new user feel so, but I have not experience of such environment in this site. But if some have to face unfriendly environment here, then it is not best for the future of this site. All the member has the duty to make a very free and friendliness environment here that any new user fee comfortable here.

This shouldn't happen in a peaceful environment such as mylot but like in real life it is something like ragging a freshie in a college. What the seniors are doing is orientating the newbies to make them ready for the many challenges that lies ahead of them in mylot. It will subside once the newbies familiarize themselves with the working of this site. If they can withstand this so called 'rude' attitude of the seniors then they will be able to face the tough challenges here which will make them put up a brave face and see them stay longer. A faint hearted person can never stand it longer than say a month here. Newbies or seniors we form part of mylot and no one can claim to be superior than the other.

Another thing that happens is that people join MyLot believing that if they get lots of responses and friends they will earn well. They need to understand that they have to do more than just post lots of discussions, they need to engage in give and take. Otherwise no one is going to respond to them. I have seen lots of people who come and post continuously without getting back to others, then they think no one wants them here. Some get upset if they have discussions deleted, but it happens, because they think that the same things that work on other forums work here. The discussions on MyLot need to be real discussions, not polls and games and favorites. Newbies who ask, and stick around get plenty of help from kind people like you, Zandi, and lots of others here on the lot.

hello i'm a newbie here in mylot. in my case, as much as i want to have that staying power i just can't. i'm not very good in english and i can't express myself through that language very well. i really want to participate in so many discussions here but i end up skipping most of them because i might say something others won't like. i see that you've answered so many questions and you're a veteran here in mylot. i hope you may guide us, the newbies, to be more active in this program. i'm having fun here btw. i can practice my english "typing" skills here because i'm communicating with real people :D

Hi chocolatelle, welcome to mylot. I see that you are from the Philippines and English is widely spoken in your country compared to where I come from. Initially I find it very difficult to express myself here but responding daily has given me the confidence to be in an international circle. I soon forget about my handicap in this language when I no longer feel that inferiority complex in expressing what I want to say through my post as people come in full support to my discussions. That is where I know I can be at level head with the native speakers. Someone even question me whether I am from where I state the country in my profile as this person think that I can think like they think and write like many of them. Of course I take this as a great compliment as being in mylot has greatly improved not only in my writing but also my thinking. I guess I am more rational in my thinking and more open minded as compared to my original self where my life is unexposed as though I am still inside a cocoon. I will always support newbies to the best of my abilities.

I think that language is another reason why there are a lot of newcomers who don't really last long on here. I can understand your post but I really can't understand some people on here because of their bad English.

As some others have mentioned here, I think many newbies come here with the idea that since they hear MyLot is a paying site, that they'll make a small fortune then get discouraged when they don't. My main reason for staying here so long is like you, I've met so many great people, and yes, consider many closer friends than people in my "real" world. I have to admit I've not been as active here lately though, number one I hang out at another place where a lot of MyLotters are, but two, I've gone back to writing articles which takes up a lot of my time. I'm also the admin/officer for two Facebook groups.....sheesh not easy but good for me

I joined Mylot just over a year ago. I decided to join because it was a legit paying site. I found out quickly how hard it is to make payment! I then started making friends. I have like 41 friends. Most of my friends aren't on Mylot on a regular basis or have disappeared into the unknown! I have said this before and will again. I have had alot of bad experiences on Mylot. From being insulted to being extremely critized for no reason. I also have been mentally abused. So now I just stay on Mylot, mostly, just to make money. I do have a few friends but it seems without trying I have made more enemies then friends. I thought of leaving Mylot many times but I won't! No one can make me! If I even leave it will be on my terms not anyone else's! Newbies need to do more research on Mylot before joining. Then they will join if it for them or not join because it isn't for them. If I could do it over again that is what I would do!

You have met an unfortunate incident which is most likely an isolated case. Many have found great people here and less is mentioned about rudeness. You can always send your complain to admin and they will deal with these rude people. I hope you will not be demoralized by this incident as we can't avoid meeting people who are idiotic.

I believe they don't have the patience unlike the veterans who have grown with the progress of this site. Not everyone has the free time to be here but at least you have some place in the virtual world to consider as your pet site to unwind after a hard day work.

Yeah well, maybe they try it and find out the money's kind of slow? And of course it can be bad for them if they are only in it for the money.
Take me for example, you'll see this reply as my first post. But really, I had my account removed for inactivity before. I had quite an experience in mylot a couple of years ago and got to about 200 posts but felt bad I wasn't getting much earnings. So I stopped only to come back now to be disappointed the old account is gone. In between I've had lots of exposure to discussion boards, forums and realized how much fun it is to join discussions. That being said, now I'm here to really join and whatever I will earn will be secondary, albeit still important.
And yes, I share your hope to have newbies stay and become veterans. :)
Cheers Zandi!
