Does the music you listen to affect the way you drive?

I am always listening to music when I drive. If I am alone in the car I crank up the music and sing a long with it while driving. Often what music I choose to play is relating to my mood at the time. But what I have realized is that the music I play affects the way I am driving. If I am listening to rock or hard rock, I drive much more aggressively and I tend to speed up. If I listen to the radio with every day pop music I drive differently - more steady, not aggressively but not passively either. If I listen to slower music and ballads I drive a lot more calmly and more passively. Do you do the same, does the music affect your driving? Or do you think it is simply the fact that the mood while driving affects the music as well as the driving?

I listen to what older people would call aggressive music so when I drive, I find that when the music is playing there is a good chance I am going to get a speeding ticket..it really does affect the way I drive..plus, I am usually in a good mood so if it isn't aggressive music, I am driving and singing..at the light, you can even catch me dancing..lol

That sounds exactly like me, the tempo of the music affects the driving! At least I am not alone... :)

I think certain types of music may effect ones driving ability. I cite Weird Al as being the cause of every finder binder that I've ever been involved in. Polka music has this strange effect on me. It makes me want to tailgate, and see how close i can get to a parked car, without actually hitting it.

I guess that means that you are a very good driver! Hopefully your mood or other things doesn't affect your driving either!
