Has anyone suffered from Costochondritis and how did you recover?

I was diagnosed yesterday as a medical aid unit with both Costochondritis and a sinus infection. I had never heard of this ailment until yesterday. For those who have not heard of this ailment, it is an inflammation of the cartilage (soft bone) that attaches the ribs to the breastbone. The cause is usually related to overuse, usually by lifting or straining of the chest muscles. I believe that this may have occurred while shoveling a lot of snow during this past week. But I also read that it could possibly have been brought on by my sinus infection, which I did not know I had til I went to the medical unit. I was having a lot of pain in my chest and did not want to risk my health by not doing anything about it. Has anyone had costochondritis and what did you do to get well? I was given medications for both diagnoses and hope to get well soon. Won't be doing any shoveling til I am better and have to be careful with doing anything strenous.

Hey I haven't seen you in ages, its nice to see you. but gee whiz I am sorry that your not feeling good, it sounds like it would hurt. I hope it heals up quickly for you. We have had alot of snow too here in Ohio, but I think you might have had even more then we have had. Take care and hope to see you more often.

Nice to see you too. This condochondritis does hurt and feels like there is something else going on, like a heart attack. There is quite a bit of pain in my upper chest near the heart so that is why I went to the medical center. Something did not seem right and is not something I have had before. It is a pretty scary feeling. Hope the medication and some rest will cure me. My sinus infection may have played a part in it as well, though I did not know that I had that either other than feeling tired all the time. Thank you for your concern.
