I delighted to say that I finally passed my practical driving test. I got a friendly examiner and that made all the difference. From my local health food shop I got some calming liquid. I failed the test that I did in November because I was so nervous. I have got my own car and my toddler son has got a disabled parking badge. I am over the moon with happiness today. The practical driving test in my home country is demandingly difficult and challenging to pass. How I wish I have learned to drive when I was younger.
What is the practical driving test like in your home country?
Did you find it easy or difficult to pass your practical driving test?

Woo hoo! Congratulations! I kind of found it easy to pass my driving test, although when it was time to do parallel parking I was nervous. I was sixteen when I got my license, so I was nervous on the written test, but then the actual driving test made me more nervous. I think most people here dread parallel parking the most. My dad went over and over with me on the parallel parking.

Thanks my friend AmbiePam. I am pleased that you easily passed your driving test when you were sixteen years ago. In my home country the earliest age to learn to drive is seventeen years old. The theory test didn't make me feel nervous. The practical test involves two reverse movements. It is scary. I don't like doing parallel parking and I agree many drivers hate that the most.

Well done you. It is bound to make your life much easier now thatyou can just get in your car and drive.
I know it's all so different from when I did it in the UK many, many moons ago. I did a motor bike one too but I notice that is no longer on my curretn driving licence. I'm just hoping they don't introduce a new test that wrinklies like me have to pass to continue driving. LOL. Both my children passed before the current onerous two tests were involved, lucky for them. My hubby had to pass an advanced driving test one year to get his taxi licence renewed.

Thanks. Yes, it will make my life easier and not waiting for buses will save time for me. If I had learned to drive when I was seventeen it would have been easier. Since then in the UK it has become more difficult in the last ten years. I am glad your children passed before the two tests were required. Now there are two questions. These are about the car's controls or under the bonnet. I guess that the taxi test must be extra challenging. You did well to do the motorbike test as well as the car test.

Congrats on passing your driving test. This is a big step in your life and you should be very proud. It is also a blessing that you got a friendly examiner and your nerves did not get the best of you this time.

Thanks. I am so very happy because I didn't think I would ever pass. In November my nerves made me make some very silly mistakes. There is a door and three examiners came out of it. The one I had was really nice and friendly. Yes, it will make me life much easier.

Hiii,
Congratulations! I was ecstatic too when I was given the final nod for the license. I bought my own car and was determined to learn it without going to any driving school. And when the day came to give the test I was good at it.
I always loved to drive so much. At times during my early teens I had this pang to make the driver sit at the back seat and grab the wheels. I enjoy driving very much.
Congratulations again.

Hi max! Congratulations! Driving tests are really hard for me especially remembering all those traffic laws. But it is very rewarding once we passed all those tests. I got really nervous on the day of my driving test. I already got my driver's license. whew! Happy mylotting!

in india, there's nothing like this, here corruption is everywhere, just spending 10 dollars , you will get at home, got it, its so simple , whatever procedures are in your country, are also here in my country but they rarely follow by anybody, here you have to give money, and get your favourite no.s on bike and cars, i can easily ride abike but not known about car driving, that i will definitely learn from my dad

It is interesting to hear about learning to drive in India. Well it sounds a lot easier. In my home country a person usually has lessons with a driving instructor. The lessons cost quite a lot and the driving test with the car hire was expensive. If a person buys a car it will need a safety test, road tax and insurance.

Congratulations my friend. I'm sure that being able to drive your son around yourself will make things a whole lot easier for you. Yes, you'll miss sitting on the bus and being able to take in the scenery en route, but you'll find it easier to transport your son around yourself. I can feel your elation... WELL DONE!
Brightest Blessings... it's good to see you again. I don't come into Mylot that often, these days, and miss you all a lot. :)

Hi Maximax8! Congratulations that you have passed the driving test and got license. I am from India, in past it was very easy in India to get a driving license but now a days it is not so easy....
In past there were not much hard and fast rules for the license and people used to get license very easily but now India is changing and it is now difficult to get a license in some part of country...
We have written test as well as practical driving test for getting the license now in most of big cities...
As one of Indian has written that because of corruption it is easy to get license... yes it is somewhat true but now India is improving and hope such circumstances will change soon and people will go through proper procedure for getting license in those reasons as well....
Happy myLotting!!!

Well, congratulations to you. In my country, it is not that difficult to pass a practical driving test, if somebody really able to drive. Moreover, it is easier because in my country, people will apply practical driving test when he/she really is capable of driving cars.

Congratulations!!!! Well done! I passed my test back in 1989 when fortunately the theory test hadn't been introduced. I passed on my second attempt, I had a different car which made a hell of a difference, the first car was a ford orion which was a pig to drive, the second time I had a lovely mini metro which was a pleasure to drive. It is very difficult and it's also all about nerves, it was a terrible nerve wracking experience and I think if you put away the nerves and anxiety you will do well as you certainly did!

Congratulations on passing your practical driving test. In Malta the real practical driving test is when you get your licence and start driving on the road. You have to bear the hoots, angry drivers who think you are too slow and have to dodge the odd slow driver in the fast lane without grumbling. If you manage to do all this you are really a good driver. The practical test was not too harsh when I did it about fifteen years ago but recently tougher tests were introduced. I managed to pass on the first occassion but as I said the examiners were not too harsh on us.

Congratulations.
It took me three attempts to pass my driving test. The first time I was so nervous I made loads of silly little mistakes. The second time the weather was dreadful, taking a driving test in a snow storm is never good. The third time I sailed through.

I was like you I had taken the writing portion of the test which is 20 questions and I think you are allowed maybe 5 or 6 wrong. I took it twice when I was younger but failed it due to nerves. When I moved to New Mexico 3 years ago at the age of 50, I decided I needed to get my license. So I went to a school and the instructor came to pick me up for 5 days straight. On the last day I passed the driving test and I thought I was going to love to drive and the freedom that you get with it. Wrong!. After driving for maybe a month I had a slight accident with a tree. However, that was like the beginning of the end for me driving. I drove maybe for another year afterwards but was always nervous and couldn't control my nerves at all. So I have a car but my daughter drives it. I'm so happy that my daughters learned in their twenty's and not like me. They both drive so good with such confidence. I wish you the best and hope you love to drive. Good luck.

Wow, well done!
Now you are free!
I think I remember talking about my driving test here once before. I failed it the first time around on my 18th birthday. I passed the written exam easily and then did all the most difficult parts of the practical exam like the reverse parking really well. (Even with a coke bottle on the roof of the car which did not fall of until further down the road...LOL)
But then when nearing the end of the test, a truck pulled wide out of a side street so I veered left to avoid it, but right there was a large piece of concrete sitting in the side of the road that the instructor thought I was going to hit, so he grabbed the wheel.
Instant failure...GRRR. I felt that I was in control of the situation, but he did not and failed me by his actions. I was not happy! I went back a week later and passed it easily the second time.
