I mean really! Bush got out of office and has said VERY little to say sence then. Only when Obama asked him to do some public appearances for Haiti did he really make any public statements about ANYTHING and then it was just asking poeple to help Haiti.
Cheney on the other hand won't shut up. Come on. YOur time in office is over. Your not the VP anymore. Move on and get over it.
Hardly anyone in this country liked Cheney by the time he left office. Why won't he just shut up and go away?

Um, because we have freedom of speech in the US? Because people like me support Cheney?
Hey, if you want to cut off everyone who leaves office from talking... start with Carter, Clinton, Gore, and there is a few others. These guys have been spewing their hot air all over the place for years.
I don't want Cheney to shut up and go away. I want him to stay right where he is, proclaiming the truth.

Truth? You are kidding right. Cheney is a POLITICAN....which means he does not know how to tell the truth.

GREAT DISCuSSION!
Cheney has the delusion he is still relevent... but then again he does speak for a minority of people who want their voices heard. That can feed that sense of being an important voice - - but I agree, he is sounding like a clanging gong.
There will always be a place for him... just not on the Sundy shows, PLEASE!

I don't know who he speaks for. Most of the Republican party hates him too. No one like him and I don't know why he thinks we care what he thinks or has to say.
I wish he would just go away.

(raises hand) I like him. I don't agree with everything he says but I think he's gutsy.

Why should he? He has as much right to voice his opinion as you do. Why don't you get over it and shut up?

If Cheney sees something he believes is a detriment to our country, would it be wise for him to just shut up, because he's no longer the vice president? To me it would be like seeing a child drowning and not diving in to the water to save him because you're no longer the paid lifeguard.

...Hi there lilwonder456, It is quite amazing that the man just keeps on talking.
What is more amazing is that other Conservatives like George Will are not happy with what he is saying and sometimes speak out against his babble. If you listen to him and I try not to, he is criticizing the Obama administration for doing exactly what his administration did. It is the craziest thing I have ever seen. He also wants to try and rewrite history. I do think he is afraid of something in the future, like being tried for war crimes or something. Maybe one day we will know.
But like you, it would be nice if he went away, a long vacation would be nice. I think he is jealous of his cousin Obama. "o) Take care.

Cheney suffers from a libido dominandi, a lust for domination. He not only wants wants to dominate, he needs to. Cheney must stay in the place eye, on in this case the public eye or he will not fell important. Your neighbor might have a lust for domination but if he or she cannot effect your life then what does it matter. Cheney is out of power, but can still effect life if people listen to him. Ignorance is the greatest weapon to be used against his type.

He needs to let the lime light go...this country is pretty sick of him and just wants him to go away. Even Bush as smart enough to stay of the lime light for the most part sence he left office.
I really hate turning on the TV and seeing Cheney's face. It ruins my whole day.

I will try to answer this in the most respectful way I can.
#1 I like Cheney, and actually quite a few people do. A lot of people in the republican party would like for him to run in 2012. I would love to see a Cheney/Palin ticket.
Regarding him shutting up - he spent eight years quietly supporting his President. Whether he agreed or not, he kept his mouth shut and did his job. He is now speaking up to defend their actions. If people were bad mouthing you, shouldn't you be able to defend your self.
he is not claiming to be running the country, he is simply talking about things that he is an expert in.
In my opinion, Cheney and Bush have both shown maturity and grace in their actions since the end of their term. It worries me that you take issue with somebody voicing their opinion. I think it is VERY important that no matter your views, that the current administration is questioned. I think ALL politicians should be questioned, constantly.

Especially since Biden has a problem with the truth. "Iraq is one of Obama's best acomplishments"? Huh? He was against the war and against the surge.
It's Bush/Cheney's acomplishment, A-hole!

Oh, they'll be no Cheney/Palin ticket. So don't be scared. They couldn't win. Unless they want to throw the race much like the mistake they made with the McCain/Palin ticket.

A Cheney/Palin ticket scares the you know what out of me. And not because of Palin either. I actually kinda like her.
Cheney scares the you know what out of me. He is the darth vader of the republican party to me. I trust him about as far as I could pick him up and throw him.
Cheney supported the Patriot Act. He supported Gitmo detainee sitting there for years without a trial. I don't think they should be tried in a civil court. But it is wrong of us just hold people without showing evidence and getting a military tribunal done in a reasonable amount of time.He supported the war in Iraq. There were no WMD. There was no reason for us to go to war Iraq. A lot of money and lives were lost on a war that never should have happened. Cheney has no clue what fiscal responsibility is. But then most politicans don't either.
I could say I WAS a republican until 8 years of Bush/Cheney. Now I am a conservative....but Not a republican. Not if Bush and Cheney are the poster children of what it means to be a Republican.
If you like him fine...more power to you. He does have a right to freedom of speech just like everyone else. But all I see him doing to bashing the current admin (which I don't care for either) and defending what they did for 8 years.Which in my opinion lost us the last election. It is important that the current admin (or any government) is questioned. But by the american poeple not him.
Want to know what finished me on Cheney, when he did an interview and said he did not care what the american people thought. That he had no plans to run for office after his second term as VP was over...so sence he did have a political career to think of...he was going to do what he wanted and forget what the rest of us wanted or thought. I don't care for that kind of attitude out of my public servants.

The odd thing is I don't recall Cheney saying all that much when he was in office. I always thought of him as sort of the power behind the the throne. Bush had a pretty good sense of humor and was kind of likable even to those of us who didn't agree with a damn thing he did and I always thought of Cheyney as the guy who stood beside Bush and sneered and sort of reminded me not to fall for the Bush humor. Now that he is out of office, it seems that Cheyney has gotten a lot more vocal. Maybe the sneer doesn't have the same effect when out of office.

"Why won't he just shut up and go away?" INDEED! The D1ck Cheney, with all his secret energy meetings, the one who responded "So?" when told the majority of Americans didn't consider his war in Iraq worth fighting and the one who had repeatedly claimed that criticism against his Administration's security and foreign policies somehow "emboldened" our enemies! Although I hate to believe this possible about any fellow human being, let alone a fellow American, part of me thinks he's hoping for a major attack here in the U.S. for purely political reasons. I HOPE I never have a chance to say "I told you so" but if that happens I'll bet my very life he'll lead the charge at using it politically.

Oh I imagine if we do have another major attack in this country that Cheney will be on EVERY channel screaming I told you so. I hope he never gets the chance.
I can't stand him. He is the poster child that absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I agree about Carter too. If you are a "former" president....then you are a "former" president...not the current one. Which means. sit down shut up, you have had your time...now it is someone else's turn.

The reason he will not shut up is because he and most other Americas are getting tired of the loser government we have in office now blaming Bush for every thing but the Jones Town food. O was elected because he said he was going to do Evey different then Bush. He was going to make America a wonderful proud, rich free country. So far the only things he done is embarrass us, spend all our money and is trying he hardest to make us all socialist. Cheney has had enough and thank God he is not going to stay quiet any longer. O is such a bad president that even his own party is starting to desert him. God help us we have 3 more years of him. Keep on talking Mr. Cheney. We need you.

Maybe if the Obama administration would grow the hell up and take responsibility for their own actions instead of blaming the Bush administration for everything ALL THE TIME, Mr. Cheney would not feel the need to speak out so much.

I agree the "everything is Bush's fault" BS is beyond getting old. Yes Bush screwed up. But you know...so has Obama and he does need to own up to it. Obama DOES need to pull up his big boy pants and deal with his own BS.
As for Cheney. I guess my issue with him is I don't like or trust him. I thought we were well rid of Bush and Cheney when their second terms were over. I was hoping to no see their faces for a while.

Cheney probably wont shut up because he wants to be heard. Even on mylot if we include his first name our discussion will be deleted. Can you imagine this poor man going through his whole life with a name associated with the male reproductive member. Also, now that he has no more power, he can get away with anything he pleases.

I suppose that's the nature of politics. Sometimes people just hang on to the lime light - not letting the next person have two words.
I agree with you though - I used to call myself a Republican. I've always been conservative - but now, the Republican party is following the Democratic party.... and it's becoming more and more ridiculous every day.
So... Conservative always. Republican...no.
