Bailey at 3.5 weeks...click for info - Here is Bailey ready to go to his forever home....with me. He is cuddling with "The Geek" a little stuffed bird I got for him so he wouldn't miss his nest mates so much.
The Quaker is a small parrot, reaching 11 to 12 inches in length. As a comparison, the Quaker is a bird similar in length to a Cockatiel, but the Quaker's body is heavier and more substantial with an average weight of 90 to 120 grams.
I love this picture of my baby Quaker Parrot, Bailey. He was 3.5 weeks old in this picture. It was the day I picked him up from the breeder. He looks so small next to his stuffed bird..we call "The Geek", he still has it in his cage and sometimes cuddles with it... and now he is just 5 mos this week...lol Of course he doesn't look like this anymore with all his feathers in. But he is still just as sweet. Quakers have an amazing capacity to imitate both sounds and human speech. In a June 1995 article, Bird Talk magazine placed the Quaker Parakeet on its top ten list of the best talking birds. While their speech doesn't equal the quality that is found in African Greys and some of the Amazons, it is definitely good enough to be clearly heard and understood. And the intelligent creatures that they are, they often use their large vocabularies of sounds and words at the most appropriate times. Bailey has been talking since he was about 5 weeks...tickle and pickle were his first words and are still his favorite..he refers to himself as "Tickle Boy" and "Little Pickle"...he's very funny. I think anyone wanting a first parrot couldn't go wrong with choosing a Quaker.

You can see my lovely cat Moomin right here on this page. He is the lovely moggie curled up on the sofa, pretending he is king of the world. I feel very honoured that my photo was chosen for the cats category

I've got several pictures but I can't post them all. Most of them I've posted in the photo's section, two of which I've posted yesterday. They are of my cat Precious, the orange tabby who's a cute orange camera hound. He'll sit for hours and let you pet him endlessly.
