In a December fundraising letter Rep. Michele Bachmann wrote, "“Obama wants to use ACORN to radicalize America because he isn’t interested merely in defeating conservatives… …HE WANTS TO ANNIHILATE US! That’s the purpose behind ObamaCare, too.”
She recently said, "...and if we reject Israel, then there is a CURSE that comes into play..."
She also stated, “But basically what we have to do is wean everybody else off Social Security and Medicare.”
Considering the above along with all the other outrageous things she’s said in recent years, it’s not too surprising that 56% of Minnesota residents are EMBARRASSED by the Representative.
The question asked of 600 Minnesotans was, ““Do you think Congresswoman Michele Bachmann does Minnesota proud in Congress or embarrasses Minnesota?” The results were 56 percent of respondents statewide said they were embarrassed by Bachmann, 29 percent answered that they were “proud” of the Sixth Congressional District Republican, and 15 percent were “not sure.”
I know we have some Minnesotans among our ranks here so what do you say? No matter where the rest of you live, how would YOU feel about having Michele Bachmann represent YOU?

Considering that Minnesota elected Senator Al Franken says it all. Michelle Bachmann understands the tax system and how in effective and unfair it is. You can not keep expecting 20% of the tax payers to support 80% of the people. She is right we have to do something about Social Security and Medicare. I am a few short years away from Social Security and find that there is talk of basing your payment on need not how much you paid into the system or how long you worked. So once again the enlightened liberals want to make it fair for all. I worked all my life and now will have to continue so that some Lazy S_B can collect even though they did not work as hard as me or pay in as much as I did. I would be very happy if I got a cash buy out of what I put in so I could invest it and make more money for my retirement.
I would be happy to heve her represent my district.

I am not a Minnesotan and everything she says sounds all right to me except -----when she tells that Americans have to be weaned off of Social Security and Medicare. With the economy in bad shape down there, the increase in taxes, the deficit and the government spending, there will many Americans out of work and they will need the safety net.
Anyone who advocates the removal of such does not deserve support. If she had said, that Congress must reform Social Security and Medicare so those who deserve it get it and are not refused and those who do not are taken off, then I am sure that the numbers would have been reversed.

I agree with Rep Bachmann that we need to be weaned from Social Security. I have paid into two retirement plans all my life. One was an employee owned State Pension Plan (The state oversees the plan but can not touch the money) and Social Security. I paid almost the same into both plans (I paid a little more into SS because I worked at some jobs that were not covered by the other plan). With my private plan I was able to retire at 57 and received more than I will receive from SS when I reach age 66. As I read my SS statement I see that it is a compact between you and the government and can be ended when Congress decides. If you follow the news you will know that there is talk of making SS needs based so people like me who saved will be punished and have my payments reduced.
I would prefer to have control over my money. If I were able to cash out my portion (the amount I paid not the employer) I could invest in in several dividend paying stocks and reinvest the dividend I would have more monthly income than I will receive from SS. What SS is doing is taking money out of the economy and not allowing the money to be used to invest in economic growth.

What we have in Canada is the Canada Pension and it is something like your social security. What it means is that we get that pension based on what we make. Therefore my husband gets a much larger pension because he worked longer and at a trade, while I just get a small pension because I did not work that long, and the jobs I worked at mostly was before they had the Canada Pension. I do not think that you should be supporting someone else who did not contribute or could not.
There are other programs for them I supposes down there. We have Old Age Security that comes from our taxes and is not our individual contributions and that is so that no old person is in poverty. And we have another government pension that is for those who do not make enough and that is based on both spouses's incomes, so even though I may deserve it, I am not going to apply for that one because I do not want the income tax to take money I saved for whatever from my bank.

I think everyone can agree Social Security and Medicare need to be reformed. The problem with Bachmann and others from her party is they like to talk out of both sides of their mouths. On one hand they lied and misrepresented provisions from the proposed health care bills by saying they would cut billions of dollars from Medicare and therefore take services and benefits away from those currently enrolled or soon to be eligible but on the other hand they're talking of really cutting benefits or doing away with it altogether.

I wouldn't expect her to have great numbers, but I wouldn't give this poll any credibility. It was commissioned by bunch of left wing loons and done by the same group that works for DailyKOS.
I think incumbents are going to have low approval throughout the country, but this poll was designed to degrade her and that's clear with them asking if she "embarrasses" people. I'd rather see her approval ratings measured by a more respectable polling group who isn't working for extremists.
In the end though, even that poll showed her doing well in her own district and those are the people she's directly working for. The statewide numbers show that pretty much everyone who is embarrassed by her is a democrat with only 12% of republicans feeling that way. That's to be expected with a partisan person like herself.

I'm not going to debate the credibility of this poll and I'm not going to argue about whether it was designed to "degrade" her because I agree, it wasn't meant to be complimentary.
In case you hadn't guessed, if I were asked this question by a pollster I'd be part of the majority...lol! NOT because she's a conservative but because of the over the top things she's always saying.

Well Annie, it looks like they're afraid to show the results for Franken and Klobuchar. As you can see they said:
"The full survey, which will feature public opinions on Sens. Al Franken and Amy Klobuchar, health care reform and the public option, will be released next week."
It's been over a week and there's been no release of the data for them. That's the problem with partisan polls published by extremists. They'll only release data that supports their agenda and bury everything else.
