Diabetes: What cna you do to help yourself?

Hey there!
My mom just got out of the hospital, nearly died and almost slipped into a diabetic coma. Diabetes is an expensive lesson that i dont wnat anyone else to have. In your own opinion, what cna you do to prevent diabetes, or; if you have diabetes, what're you gona do about it?
Every little thing ghelp becuase im just lost here...

My family has a high blood sugar and there are a lot of things that we do to prevent having diabetes in the future. My father got his diabetes because he drank so much soft drinks before so we avoid those drinks. If we eat candies or ice cream, it is a rule that we have to drink plenty of water afterwards. We need to eat plenty of vegetables too. It is always part of the diet.

Advice your mom not to eat a lot of rice . If she feel n\that she is not fulled eat vegetabel instead of rice. Eating a lot of rice with meat will produce sugar.
