People in my country belive in evil eye a lot. Many people belive that that will get sick if some people feel jealous of them. There are many methods to get protected from evil eye.
1. A person will hang a lemon on the front portion of his vehicle to get protected from the the people who become jealous of him having the vehicle. The evil eye of the jealousy person can get him an accident and thereby damage to the vehicle.
2. A person will hang a few red chillies in front of their house to get protected from the people who become jealous of him having the house. The evil eye of the jealousy person can get a fire in the house.
I personally belive that the above beliefs are superstitious, but there are a lot of people who really belive them and practice protective measures.

though i grew-up with people who have a lot of superstitious beliefs like this one, i learned that this should be stopped especially with the kind of life we have, the electronic age. it is also thought in the religion where i once joined. and so, as a christian and an electronic person, i don't believe in superstitious beliefs such as this.

I agree with you. These beliefs are developed years ago and we are not in a situation to follow that at this age of electronics and computers. There is a belief with a religion in my country that women are not supposed to go out of the house when they have their period. It is not possible now with most of the women working. No employer will give one week leave to a woman every month, who wants to follow the belief.

It is true that people get jealous of others for the things they have acquired. But,I also believe that God is watching over you so you nothing to fear. However, if you don't believe in God that's when you will have to turn to fruits, vegetables and chicken feet. I serve someone much mightier than that.

That is a good answer and I support you. I also don't believe in these supersititions. But, I am surprised to see how carefuly people practice all those things. I am not supposed to believe in all those things according to my religion and caste. I belive that god is watching everybody and will show his mercy on good people.

Hi Daliaj,
THanks for sharing this belief in your country. here in the philippines we do that to take away witches and we use garlic. we hang garlic our doors and windows. that's only one of our superstitious beliefs. as i grow older i realized that it's just a belief and really not true!

hi there! I have heard about that superstition, but have never believe in these things, because I am not a person who believes in it. I don't believe that someone can make me feel bad or something bad to happen to me, only if he/she looks me with evil eyes. I think it is only a stupid superstition

I don't believe in these superstitions either, but everyday I come across lots of people, who are educated, believ in those. This makes me think if they is something true about evil eye. There are spiritual organizations that sell a thing, which looks like a eye to keep in the guest room of a house, which will capture evil looks and safeguard people who live in the house.

in my country (INDONESIA). It is not something to be believed. Only a few tribes are believed. Many tradition that made them to avoid the "EVIL EYE".
in my opinion, EVIL EYE is a metaphor that is shown for people who have hatred or malice.
