what do you ask for when you pray? are you the type of person who asks for material things or more important ones like health and peace of mind?
when you pray, are your prayers for other people or for yourself? do you honestly expect your prayers to be answered?

Hi! When I pray, I don't ask for anything right away. I say thank you. I think it's only right to show gratitude first. I usually thank Him for my amazing husband, our beautiful cats, our home, the opportunities that have been presented to me in life, and a lot of times I'll even thank Him for the snow we have gotten that makes the world look gorgeous, or other such small gifts from Him like that.
After that I'll pray for help or guidance. Whether my husband needs a mood lifter, or I want my mom and brother's sickness to be alleviated, my dad's financial situation to get better...I'll pray that God's will happen for those situations, and I'll ask it be the best situation possible for the loved one. I used to pray and claim I never got answers, but in reality, God's answer isn't always as straight forward as we'd like.
In prayers throughout the day, I'll just look out at a sunset and say thank you to Him for its beauty. Or if I feel myself get angry, I'll pray to Him and ask to keep me calm, and so far this hasn't failed once. I never pray for materialistic things. Too many times in the Bible verses I've read it focuses on not being in love with materialistic things, money, etc. So why pray for it? Plus, such things cannot make you happy or get you farther in life. Why think more about them than you need to?
I have gotten answers to my prayers, but I don't "expect" them. I believe there is free will, and then I believe there is God's will. In certain cases, one's poor judgment with their free will may cause them pain in one way or another, and I believe in some cases they must dig themselves out of that. If I want answers to my prayers I have to be careful not to narrow my focus to one way God could answer. God is much more complex than we are. He may not answer directly.

When I pray, I thank God for all the blessings of the day, ask for forgiveness, and pray for other people. When I come across websites I see people who give prayer requests, and I also pray for those who I think need God the most, believer or nonbeliever. I also confess to Him my fears and worries, and sometimes I do cry a lot because of the outpour of emotions. I also don't pray for material things because I don't feel the need for those.
Remember, churches don't approve of lotteries. I remember a priest who said that there was once a woman who came to him and asked him to pray for her to win the lottery. He didn't pray for her.

I learned not to ask for material things anymore. When I was a kid I always do that. Now, I usually just pray for blessings for me and family, constant guide and protection, and then give thanks in return.

When I pray, I always put to mind the people who are dearest to me, like my parents, sibling and also my bf. All I ask from God is to make them all in good health and be safe at all times. That's all, and wishes for each one on their birthday. What I ask for myself is just wisdom and patience in my work. i believe when I have something to ask from God, He will grant it in his own time, not on the time that i expected.

Hi, I dont ask for material things, unless i'm buying a home or a car, you hope that goes through. But, i ask for the health and the peace of mind for myself, and i have a mental list of people i want that for also.
When you pray, you do it with faith.I ask to be a good person, for goodness of my heart, for peace and serenity in my life and in the lives of others i know.
I also meditate and that helps me a lot,
Always remember, when addressing your God, that you must first give thanks for everything you do have. There is so much to be thankful for, even in the midst of bad times...always be greatful for what you Do have.
I hope this helps you a little bit. I'm not overly religious, but i do pray and stay in touch, always remembering to thank God for everything i have.

i cant exactly say that when i used to pray and what i used to pray . the most times i would pray is to get me out of certain situations . i am the kind of person who prays for material kind of things than for peace of mind of course i will pray for that too at certain times . i dont think that i will pray for other persons most time . i will mostly pray for myself the most times . i do really expect that my prayers should be answered or else there is no need to pray at all if you dont expect that your prayers will be answered .
