Mylot Chat Box

I was wondering if having a mylot chat box somewhere in the page would be a good idea? At least we have a way of knowing who are online so we can send a quick message. Perhaps, some people may say that it will ruin the discussion, because people might just use the chat box and won't focus anymore to quality discussion, thus won't post a new one.
I don't think it will affect the discussion because discussions are what people fond of reading, not just a simple hi or hello you can send through the chat box.
Well, this is just something that popped in my mind. What do you think of that?

At some of the forums I frequent we have a chat box that allows us to communicate simultaneously while making posts. And though these forums are role-playing forums, the c-boxes allow us to test out ideas, talk things over, and have some quick fun. Yet they do not take away the quality of the forum where you can post in-depth and detailed messages or role-playing responses.
C-boxes are good to have for quick communication, much like using an instant messenger. So I don't see the harm in allowing it onto MyLot. In fact I think if promoted right, it would increase the traffic here and open up a lot more discussions.

Exactly..I couldn't agree more and you nailed it. Just because there is a chat box doesn't mean quality discussions won't be seen or won't be available. If people find it good, more and more people would surely join mylot. Thanks for responding. Keep on mylotting firestorm and have a great day.

I think that would be a great idea to be able to send someone a quick message while responding to posts. This way we could all stay in contact. I know we have the message system for sending messages but you can not do that and respond to posts at the same time. If with a chat system we can chat and respond to discussions at the same time I think it would actually work out well.

We are getting messages from our friends from time to time, yet we cannot respond to them right away. It's because sometimes, they are already logged out or vice versa. However, with chatbox..we can respond to a discussion and send a quick message to our friends at the same time, especially if they are online. I also think that it would work perfectly fine.
