Someone confronted me and said: YOUR DESIGNS ARE BAD!!!

Hey myLotters! Have you been confronted by a person and told you frankly that your design is bad or your work is bad?
Recently, a Facebook friend, whom I never met before told me frankly that my designs are bad. I just laugh and asked him why. And he said that he looked at some of my works and he said my works are bad. I told him I'm not a pro and I just do self study. And he said that he do self study too. And he told me that I should stop wasting my time. And I told him I love what I am doing.
I wasn't so true about my feelings to what he said. I should have told him that : "How can you say that I am wasting my time, if one of my design was chosen in the final list in a competition?" Does he really think I am wasting my time? Do you think?
I know that it's just his comment but he shouldn't say that I should stop wasting my time. He could have said that: I need to improve my designs more instead of saying tha I should stop wasting my time. He is just so mean! What do you think,isnt he? Now he is challenging me. Someday, I'll prove him wrong!

I just can't understand why in the world you will get all heat up over a dude from face book telling you to stop wasting your time, he is just an immature dude or probably is just a deviate lurking around Face book trying to provoke female member to get some kicks out of them. I will just laugh my as* out and ignore him, not even worth wasting my time on such a childish man. Just let him win, you should spend your time somewhere else than on him..lol!!

why is someone else's opinion so important to you? especially someone you dont even know personally? i have pretty much stopped caring what other people think about me and my art work because at the end of the day, it is ME who i need to please (and God of course) and that is all that matters.

Yah, it seems really important to me, maybe. It's just that it was my first time to encounter a very much mean person like him. And what he said just strike me and it is all in my head.
Not caring for what other people say is something that someone can master in periods of time. Maybe, I'm just that quite fragile now and I need to develop my emotional status when it comes to people's judgment.
I do care about what he said because it is so rude and the meanest thing a person did to me. But I don't care that much, since my reaction to what he said didn't stop me to do what I am passionate about. Indeed, he made me challenged more. What he said doesn't stop me from doing designs. Who is he, by the way? LOL

No one has the right to be so rude. Ok, so in his opinion your designs are "bad" but who is to say that in someone else's eyes they are great.

Thanks recycledgoth. You are with me! :) You know what I got his point, my designs need more improvements, but he should say it in an way that isn't too harsh. Maybe he will tel me that my design needs improvement cause it isn't that good yet. And then the fact that he said I should stop wasting my time.
Yes right, maybe it looks bad for him because he does a better design an more professional,but those who aren't prof like my friends like it and appreciate it. And most of my works tells about my life or about my friends or family. So maybe he forgot it''s not really all about the design but also the content or concept of the design. He is so mean ever. And as what I said I'm going to prove him wrong!

Dear summer77,
I think you have all the rights in the world to continue and pursue what you like ! Even if you are a self study, it is okay, you get better by experiencing! Maybe is he is too rude.. But for reviving from the shock, just think he is a fool and think that he is just so jealous of you! Maybe, he can win the competition next time by justing pushing you out! IF I WERE YOU, I WOULD NOT BOTHER ABOUT THAT FELLA, I WOULD STILL CONTINUE DESIGNING!

Hello kar! Thanks a lot for cheering me up! You have a point, he isn't the kind of person that I should care to bother. But I must admit, because of what he said, he is really challenging me. Someday I will prove him wrong, as what I said. He is the meanest person I have ever encountered, ever! Before it happened, i was like praising him because he does good designs and works and I told him that, and now how could he say his opinion in a rude way?
